Crews from Pittston Township Fire Department Pittston Township Firefighters Association Local 5109 IAFF. , City of Pittston Bureau of Fire , Avoca Fire Department Jenkins Township Fire Department, Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance, and Pittston Township Volunteer Ambulance Association responded to a rope rescue call today.
A patient had been located down a steep embankment and was potentially seriously injured.
Crews were able to make contact and evaluate quickly.
Total incident was just over an hour. All units then returned to their stations to service and inspect any equipment used.

Today, Firefighters Noone and Cawley attended a Flashover Simulator hosted by the Bear Creek Fire Dept.
This is both on the site of the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, as well as an On The Road training opportunity. This is a controlled environment where instructors can create different scenarios to show fire behaviors and smoke patterns. This gives firefighters a safer route to better understand the environment they are in.
Thank you to Firefighters Noone and Cawley for taking time out of their weekend to attend this class.

JTFD would like to thank our local Wegmans for their generous donation of 12 cases of water to our members. This will go on our apparatus for incidents during high heat incidents.

Two of our members attended a special event this past Saturday. Warrior Women's Day was held in honor of Firefighter Reagan May who unfortunately passed away in October of 2025.
Firefighters Mia Vitali and Natalie Powis attended this event which included several intense training scenarios.
Firefighters Vitali and Powis participated in vehicle rescue and extrication, rappelling from a third story window, and finishing the day with a live structure burn session in the Pike County fire training facility.
This was an event tailored to the determined women who are part of the fire service.
We are of more than proud of Firefighters Vitali and Powis, who are very driven and involved in our department.
We thank them for their hard work and determination. They certainly represented our department well.

This picture shows just a portion of the cost when operating a fire department. Other factors include fuel, insurance, tools / equipment, and vehicle maintenance. Just to add a few examples.
JTFD operates both a ladder truck and an engine out of our station, and are proud to do so.
JTFD is always thankful for the support of our community, and enjoys working with them.

Congratulations to Firefighter Corcoran on his recent appointment to Full-time Firefighter in the City of Pittston Bureau of Fire . Firefighter Corcoran will also continue in his role of part time Firefighter in JTFD.
We wish Joe the best of luck on a long and healthy career as he continues his work in our communities.
