Vote for Mitch San Juan Water Vote for Mitch Dion for San Juan Water
Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Folsom and Granite Bay - We all are San Juan Water.

I will put the community first and not be sold out for Endorsements from Southern California Water interests. San Juan Water District is the biggest little district you may have never known... some want to keep it that way

San Juan Water District is the custodian of our Water Rights on the American River. The district treats and provides water to Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Granite B

ay, parts of Folsom, Roseville and Carmichael. 85% of the customers live within Sacramento County, yet it is dominated by board members from outside the County. Currently, four of the five Directors are residents of Granite Bay (including three of five candidates in this election). One little neighborhood makes the rules and sets rates for the much larger community and they like it that way. Mitch Dion & Mike McRae are the only candidates from outside of Granite
Bay. Upon threat of litigation for violating the California Voting Rights Act, San Juan Directors reluctantly created divisions to comply with the law and principle of equal representation. The new divisions distribute representation consistent with population, but will not take affect until 2023. This election is the opportunity to bring fairness and financial equity for all of the rate payers now

San Juan Water District has lost the trust and confidence of its member agencies a long time ago. Now rate payers lose in everyway.

Paradise residents remember the Camp Fire four years after devastation, look forward to the future. (Todays headline)

We should not forget about the public policy and legislative failures that led to this crisis. It was foreseeable and avoidable. San Juan Water district seems ready to embrace the policy making outlook that warped the investor owned electrical utilities. Profit before people. Deferred maintenance and substandard components in the system.
Not a dramatic as a fire, but considering the long term health impacts and unreasonable justification for rates, the district path seems more like PG&E than a community controlled service entity.

Campaign 2022 is all but on the books. Mail-in ballots and poor weather for this mid-term election will be the final say.

Elections do matter and our local issues are nearest to us.

This note is to thank everyone that might have visited this site and thought to forward something to a friend or neighbor. I believe our water district is here to serve and that contrasts me from the current board. So neighbors letting neighbors know that we can influence essential services like water. It should be all about being local and knowing our community verse a political party endorsement.

Once again, thank you for reading and being part of this little campaign for local water service.

As a final note, we will be pulling campaign signs this week. One or two may get missed, I hate the thought of trash blowing around with my name on it. So just phone, we will get it picked up.

In 1954, two thirds of the voters in the region voted to purchase the privately owned North Fork Ditch Company and form the San Juan Suburban Water District. It was a pinnacle point in our region and was intended to bring local agencies together for water supply while respecting each of the community's autonomy.
At its core, this election is all about respecting local people and interests not to impose control.

This election is an opportunity to promote local values in our water district. Division 5 has parts of all the retail agencies from San Juan wholesale district. Representing all of the interests of the community could seem complex. Growing up here, I know the community and our heritage. And I bring a vision and strategies for the future.

One of San Juan's largest resources is our water rights. Pre-1914 water rights are mostly outside of the the State's jurisdiction. However, the protections to our water are being threatened by the State and have been for many years. Now even Sacramento City and Sacramento County are prepared to sell out San Juan rate payers. It takes experience and expertise to do the job that San Juan Water District must accomplish to keep our water local.
Our local residents, gardeners, farms and future need experience in the board membership.

Local Water, Local Control.
The Doheny Ocean Desalination Project would create a new, reliable, local, and drought-proof water supply that would also provide emergency water supplies should the delivery of imported water be disrupted due to earthquakes or other natural disasters. This project was recently approved by the State (on 1/10 the size of the one we did in San Diego) and is an important step forward Southern California dependence upon imported water. A subtle but important policy issue is their policy perspective - Local Water, Local Control..... oddly, this is what water agencies in the Sierra's have been saying for years..... which was fought vehemently by Southern California water agencies.
San Juan Water needs experienced and informed water leaders to shape policy and protect our resources to sustain our quality of life.

White Lies are a Lobbyist's tool
When a candidate mis-states his title in the published candidate statement, seems to be a lie. How many lies does the candidate make before being just a liar?
Why lie? To hide from the truth...

Leadership is all about Service not Control. That is fundamental difference in this election at San Juan Water District. Voters can look to a experienced leader of public resources or a lobbyist for investor owned utilities.

Volunteers are needed for campaign signs and to help inform our neighbors of the issues. Please contact me for a yard sign or campaign fliers. We are planning a sign waving day at a couple local intersections in October and November, please let me know if you would be willing to participate.
