We send our thoughts and prayers to the family, friends and co workers of Deputy Lex Allen Love of the Wise County Sheriff's Office.

On October 2nd, at about 8:20pm, Wise County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Lex Allen Love was rushing to the scene of a motor vehicle crash on County Road 4421, East of U.S. 287. While en route Deputy Love collided with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Additional deputies were nearby when the crash occurred. Deputy Love was non-responsive when deputies reached his WCSO cruiser. He was pulled from the vehicle, and life saving measures were utilized.

Wise County EMS was dispatched to the scene. The medics performed CPR as they transported the patient to Medical City Decatur. Later in the night Deputy Love succumbed to his injuries.

Lex Allen Love, 26, was an amazingly kind young deputy. He began working for WCSO as a jailer. A few years later he attended the police academy sponsored by Decatur Police Department. Lex became a Decatur P.D. patrol officer for a couple of years. He came back to WCSO in April 2024. Lex is one of the best law enforcement officers to ever wear the DPD and WCSO badges.

Lex leaves behind a beautiful and loving young family. A huge hole was left in Wise County Law Enforcement.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the line-of-duty death of Deputy Ruben Garcia of Cameron County Precinct 1. Deputy Garcia tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while investigating a traffic accident on TX Highway 48. Despite the immediate efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville, Texas.

Deputy Garcia was a dedicated and courageous officer who took pride in serving and protecting the community he loved. He was a selfless public servant who consistently placed the safety and well-being of others above his own, embodying the very best qualities of law enforcement.

Deputy Garcia's commitment to serving our community will never be forgotten. He made the ultimate sacrifice, and we will forever be grateful for his dedication, bravery, and service. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and colleagues during this incredibly difficult time.

As we mourn the loss of a true hero, we also take this moment to remember the spirit of resilience, courage, and selflessness that shines through in all law enforcement officers. Though Deputy Garcia’s watch has ended, his legacy of service, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire and guide those who follow in his footsteps.

In the line of duty deaths, while tragic, remind us of the unwavering commitment and bravery shown by those who serve. It serves as a testament to the strength of our law enforcement community, uniting us in the face of adversity and encouraging us to carry on their work with honor.

We kindly ask that the community keep Deputy Garcia’s family, loved ones, and the entire Cameron County Precinct 1 family in their thoughts and prayers as we navigate this difficult time.

Funeral arrangements will be announced once they have been finalized. We ask that you respect the family's privacy as they grieve this tremendous loss.
