Sharing a helpful resource for families...

Help Me Grow North Texas has a free family support line that is now available to families across North Texas with young children! By calling this one line, families that are pregnant or have children under the age of 6 can get connected to a live Family Navigator for answers to questions related to pregnancy, parenting, or child development, connection to local community resources or programs that meet their needs, and a developmental screening for a quick check on their child’s development to see if they are on track for school. The Help Me Grow North Texas Family Navigators listen to families, link them to needed resources and services, and provide ongoing support to meet their needs. Child-serving agencies can also call to connect with a Family Navigator to get information on local community resources to support families within their agency. Want to get connected with a Navigator? Call 844-NTX-KIDS (844-689-5437) or go to www.HelpMeGrowNorthTexas.org and click on the “Connect with A Navigator” button. Once you fill out that survey, a Navigator will return your call within about 48 hours. www.HelpMeGrowNorthTexas.org also has lots of activities and resources for families to access. We are on social media (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) at the handle and weekly share developmental milestones, resources, and events for families in the community.

Storytimes in Spanish and Chinese

Join us virtually for Storytime Around the World! Presented completely in Spanish or Chinese, these programs can help your child develop effective communication skills and improve attention with the aid of picture books, songs, and activities in a second language. All family members are welcome, regardless of primary language. This will be a great opportunity to connect for family members of different generations who may speak different languages.
Storytime sessions will be archived in Facebook videos after streaming on Facebook on Sundays at 2 p.m. and Wednesdays at 10 a.m.:

• Spanish – Nov. 15/18, Nov. 22/25, Nov. 29/Dec. 2
• Chinese – Dec. 6/9, Dec. 13/16, Dec. 20/23

Acompáñenos virtualmente a nuestra Hora de Cuentos: Mundial. Los cuentos serán presentados completamente en español o chino. We have the best partners! Thank you so much to Junior League of Collin County for loving us well. They provided big and little backpacks for our students. We were able to fill the backpacks with school supplies before handing them out to all our and families. Thank you, Friends! We are blessed by your generosity.

Good Monday Morning, PFL! I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day weekend. Today's challenge: Same Sound Game. Think of the first sound in a family member's name. Then walk around your house and find objects with that same beginning sound. Ex: Gabi's sound is /g/ like goat, so you may walk around and find things like grapes, gum, groceries, game, gown in your home. Do this with each family member's initial sound. Remember, it's the SOUND, not the letter! Happy hunting.

Good morning, Friends! I hope you are well. Continue to add comments and show love on the teacher posts from yesterday. Today's challenge: Make a handprint family tree. You can use paint to make handprints, or trace hands on paper and then cut out, or any other fun idea you have. Add names, decorate, and add to a tree. This will make a great keepsake to remember the quarantine times. Enjoy!
