Hi all,
Suchinder Kalyan, my friend, is currently being treated in ICU at Medical City Children's Hospital for Acute Reparation Distress Syndrome since May 31st.

They are waiting for the pathology results, but doctors believe that his condition is leaning towards an AutoImmune disease which is rare and especially rare considering his age, 16. This condition leads to blood loss due to hemorrhages in his vital organs.

Part of the treatment involves Plasma exchange where plasma is separated from blood. The removed plasma is discarded and the patient receives replacement donor plasma. This treatment will go on for this week and possibility one more week, until he stabilizes.

Suchinder is currently receiving 14 units of packed Fresh Frozen Plasma and 2 to 4 units of packed whole blood every day for his treatment, from Carter Blood Care Center.

While the doctors are doing their best to treat him, we request our friends and family to help us by donating blood to Carter Bloodcare Center. This not only helps Suchinder but it also helps replenish the blood used by him and for other patients who are in need. Classes cancelled today (Tuesday, April 3rd) due to tornado threat in Collin county....just cannot take any chances with my children's safety with all the wall to wall glass in my classroom...stay safe!!!
