Marianne4Plymouth The views and opinions shared on this page are my personal views and opinions. I'm a wife, mother, registered nurse and small business owner.

As a relatively new resident of Plymouth, my husband and I chose to live here because we were drawn to the beauty of Amador County and the charm of Plymouth, a city rich in history. Living and working most of my adult life in Sacramento, our family would regularly visit Amador County where we would enjoy visiting antique shops, cafes, and outdoor adventures. Amador County and Plymouth will undoub

tedly and understandably attract others who will also want to call Plymouth home or establish businesses here. My vision is to see that any growth that occurs be done in such a way that is meaningful, thoughtful, and planned in order to maintain and preserve Plymouth’s beauty and rich history. Recognizing that these are uncertain times we’re currently living in, by investing in our community we will continue to build a community that is cohesive, safe, and provides a high quality of life for everyone who calls Plymouth home. Thank you for visiting my page!

Over the past four years on the City Council, including two years as your Mayor, I’ve learned a great deal about the challenges and opportunities that face our city. My approach has always been rooted in listening, researching, and doing my best to understand the issues.
Some of the accomplishments I’m proud to share include:
- Helping to eliminate an underutilized program with ACRA, saving the city thousands of dollars annually.
- Passionately advocating to ensure the proper process of conducting an Environmental Impact Review and CEQA study for a large, planned development, was followed when I discovered our Municipal Code was not being followed.
- Ensuring accurate accounting of our city’s finances.
- Serving on Countywide committees (LAFCO and ACRA).
- Collaborating with fellow council members to make much-needed improvements to our Fire Station
- Collaborating with community members, City Staff, and fellow Council Members in our efforts to revitalize the Park on Main Street.
- Supporting City Staff in running an in-house Summer Pool Program (City Staff did a fantastic job)!

But there is more work to be done and I have the experience that is needed!!
Looking ahead, I am committed to tackling the significant issues still facing our city, including:
- Giving careful consideration to future developments and ensuring they are in the best interest of our community.
- Protecting our city’s finances and current revenue streams.
- Finding funding to address our aging infrastructure.
- Supporting our Sheriff’s Contract Ad-Hoc Committee to ensure public safety.
I believe in representing ALL of Plymouth’s residents—not just a select few. I’m dedicated to making sure every voice is heard and every concern is addressed. Whether your voice is loud or soft, whether you’re speaking out for change or urging caution—your thoughts matter. Our strength lies in our ability to listen to one another, to respect each other, and to make decisions that reflect the true will of ALL the people.

Thank you for your ongoing support. I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving as your voice on the City Council. If you have any questions or would like to discuss any issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Marianne Akerland

I’m writing to humbly ask for your vote to re-elect me to the Plymouth City Council.

Recently, I made the difficult decision to suspend my campaign for re-election due to a personal family crisis. At the time, I felt it was the best course of action to ensure I could focus on my family during a challenging time.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been deeply moved by the outpouring of support from so many of you, encouraging me to stay the course and continue working for the best interest of all of us who love Plymouth. Your trust and belief in my leadership have always been my greatest motivation, and your heartfelt messages reminded me of the importance of the responsibility I hold.

After careful reflection, discussions with my husband, and hearing your voices, I have decided to resume my campaign for re-election. My commitment to this community has never wavered, and I am more determined than ever to lead us through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I will continue to represent ALL of you, not just a few of you.

Thank you for your kind messages, unwavering support, and encouragement. Together, we can continue to build a brighter future.

Sincerely,
Marianne J. Akerland
Mayor - City of Plymouth
