Identifying and Removing Garlic Mustard

Enjoy being outdoors and walking through Plymouth's many beautiful parks and trails? Consider lending a hand in the fight against invasive garlic mustard.

The plant overtakes native species and does not provide a benefit to wildlife. There is still some time left to pull before the plants go to seed. Watch this video to learn how to identify and remove garlic mustard.

Pulling garlic mustard is also a great way to volunteer for the city. More info: https://bit.ly/2ztHTy1

05/15/2020

Today, we celebrate the four-decade career of Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners Executive Director LaDonna Hoy – a pillar of the community and a shining example of selfless service.

Friday, May 15 has been declared “LaDonna Hoy Day” in Plymouth, as LaDonna retires from the position she’s held since Interfaith Outreach was founded in 1979. Since then, the organization has grown into a powerful force of good to help those facing poverty or homelessness.

We’re proud to have the nonprofit’s headquarters here in Plymouth, and its work is felt throughout the wider community as it serves those in need of food, employment, family support, housing, transportation and education.

The LaDonna Hoy Day proclamation was read during this week’s Plymouth City Council meeting. LaDonna called in to the virtual meeting to share a few words and said the proclamation was a reflection of the “goodness of Plymouth.”

“My wish is that on May 15, all of you, and the wonderful people who make Plymouth hum, will celebrate yourselves and find fresh hope and resolve for continuing to build a community of love and justice,” LaDonna said. “It does take a whole village – and this village knows it.”

Though she’s retiring, LaDonna will remain a presence with the lifetime title of Founder and Executive Director Emerita of Interfaith Outreach. Her impact on this community will be felt for many years to come.

Thank you, LaDonna, from everyone at the City of Plymouth. We wish you all the best in your retirement – it’s well earned.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has extended the stay home order until Monday, May 18. This executive order applies to all Minnesotans.

A stay home order directs Minnesotans to limit movements outside of their homes beyond essential needs. Limiting social interactions decreases the chance of transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and helps the health care sector prepare for increased demands.

Safely Adjusting the Dials: While retail businesses can begin offering curbside pickup effective Monday, May 18, as part of the governor's order, Minnesotans should continue to stay home, practice social distancing, and wear cloth masks as the dials are turned toward reopening society.
