Supporting our youth, one site visit at a time.

Checking in with our youth workers is an important part of helping them succeed. These visits give us the opportunity to celebrate their progress, offer guidance, answer questions, and ensure they're gaining valuable skills and experiences in the workplace.

We're proud to support our youth every step of the way as they build confidence, develop new skills, and prepare for future careers.

𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝘂𝗹 sponsors a free 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, in the Legislature’s Chambers, 11 New Hempstead Road in New City.

The theme is, “Youth Voice & Advocacy: Using Your Voice To Create Change.” Youth will participate in a series of interactive activities to help them develop their leadership skills, speak up with confidence, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Conducted by Kristin Ruggiero, a 4-H Resource Educator at the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland. Open to all Rockland youth ages 12 to 18. Participation certificates will be provided.

Mission in Motion Monday!

This week we're highlighting the Haverstraw PAL Basketball & Flag Football Program, where young athletes build confidence, character, and lifelong friendships through the power of sports. With practices held throughout the North Rockland community and games that bring families together each weekend, the program creates opportunities for youth to stay active, connected, and engaged in a positive environment.
Beyond developing athletic skills, participants learn valuable life lessons that extend far beyond the court and field. Through consistent practice, teamwork, and encouragement from dedicated coaches, youth strengthen communication, responsibility, perseverance, and self-discipline. They learn how to overcome challenges, celebrate one another's successes, and work together toward shared goals.
Team sports also provide young people with a strong sense of belonging. Whether they're stepping onto the basketball court or the football field for the first time or returning for another season, participants build supportive friendships and positive relationships with mentors who encourage them to grow both as athletes and as individuals.
The Haverstraw PAL Basketball & Flag Football Program continues to be a place where youth develop into confident athletes, respectful teammates, and engaged community members—building skills and memories that will last long after the final whistle.

Congratulations to our TW Works graduates! 🎉🎓

Last week, we celebrated the hard work, growth, and accomplishments of our TEEN Works participants as they completed the program. Throughout the summer, they developed valuable workplace skills, explored career pathways, connected with local organizations, and gained experiences that will help prepare them for their futures.

No matter where their journey leads next. Whether it’s college, career training, the workforce, or community service, we know they have the tools and confidence to succeed. There are many pathways to success, and this is just the beginning.

Mission in Motion Monday!

This week we're highlighting Village of Haverstraw 's Center Late Night Fridays, a program that provides youth ages 8–17 with a safe, supportive space to connect, grow, and thrive during afterschool and evening hours. Through recreational activities, team sports, life skills programming, and positive mentorship, participants build meaningful relationships while developing the confidence and skills needed to succeed both now and in the future.

Beyond the games and activities, youth strengthen communication, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills while learning how to navigate challenges in healthy and productive ways. Positive adult mentors and evidence-based programming help participants build resilience, foster self-esteem, and create strong connections with their peers, families, and community.
Teamwork remains at the heart of the experience. Whether playing basketball or volleyball, participating in group activities, or attending community outings, young people learn responsibility, cooperation, leadership, and respect for others. These shared experiences create a sense of belonging while encouraging youth to make positive choices and work toward their personal goals.

Haverstraw Center's Late Night Fridays continues to be a place where young people are empowered to grow as students, leaders, teammates, and community members—building confidence, strengthening relationships, and creating pathways toward a healthy, successful future.
