👟Mission in Motion Monday ❗

This week’s spotlight is off and running with a program helping girls build confidence one step at a time.

We’re Highlighting Girls on the Run Hudson Valley an organization that receives support through our funding that is dedicated to helping girls ages 8-13 develop social emotional skills through positive youth development and physically activity.

Through its “Girls on the Run “ and “ Heart and Sole programs , participants can engage in fun, experience-based lessons that combine ruing with activities focused on building confidence, character connection and resilience.

We’re proud to support programs like this that continue to partner with our mission to empower the next generation of youth.”

STAFF SPOTLIGHT🔦

Meet Diana Ramirez
Senior Program Review Assistant

Diana is a valued member of the Youth Bureau team who oversees monitoring of our funded agencies programs that empower young people across Rockland County.

Outside of work, she enjoys baking and spending time with her baby girl. Her love for baking started early and led her to attend the BOCES Culinary Program when she was younger—an experience that continues to shape her connection to youth exploring their own interests and future careers.

We’re proud to highlight the dedicated staff behind the Youth Bureau who help make our programs possible.

🚣‍♀️ Mission in Motion Monday 🚣‍♀️

This week we’re highlighting Rockland Rowing Association, a program that is expanding access to the sport of rowing for local youth.

Rockland Rowing is intentionally building an inclusive environment where students of all backgrounds, genders, abilities, and communities can experience the physical, mental, and team-based benefits of rowing.

Beyond learning technique on the water, participants are developing discipline, confidence, resilience, and teamwork—skills that carry into school, relationships, and future goals. The emphasis is not only on athletic training, but on creating a space where every young person feels welcomed, supported, and capable of growth.

We are proud to support programs that break down barriers and open doors to transformative youth development experiences.

🎨 Mission in Motion Monday 🎨

This week we’re highlighting Strawtown Studio InHabit Art: A Nature Discovery Art Program, offered in partnership with the Haverstraw Center.

InHabit Art connects youth with local outdoor spaces—inviting them to explore, observe, and respond to the natural world through hands-on art-making experiences. As youth move through parks, waterways, and green spaces, they are encouraged to slow down, notice their surroundings, and translate what they see and feel into creative expression.

This kind of place-based learning helps young people build more than art skills. It strengthens environmental awareness, emotional connection to nature, and a deeper sense of belonging to their community and the world around them.

We are proud to support programs that use creativity and nature exploration as tools for youth development, confidence-building, and lifelong curiosity.

âšľ Mission in Motion Monday âšľ

West Nyack Little League continues to give young athletes a place to learn, grow, and belong.

Beyond the game itself, players are developing confidence, teamwork, accountability, and resilience—skills that carry far beyond the baseball diamond. Every practice and every inning is an opportunity to build character and community through sport.

We’re proud to support programs that keep youth active, engaged, and connected in positive environments.

🌟 Mission in Motion Monday 🌟

This week at the Martin Luther King Multi Purpose Center After School Program, learning is in full motion!

Students are getting the support they need to grow academically and personally through a well-rounded mix of structured and engaging activities. Every day includes homework help and tutoring to reinforce what they’re learning in school, along with access to technology and web-based tools that help build digital skills and support academic success.

Beyond academics, students are also exploring new interests through enrichment activities like art and chess, giving them space to think creatively, solve problems, and challenge themselves in new ways.

Through intentional programming, students are building healthy social-emotional skills, learning how to work with others, express themselves, and grow in confidence!
