UPDATE: The repair has been completed and all water service has been fully restored. Thank you for patience through our lightning delay!!

We are currently responding to a water main break on Colfax Avenue at the intersection of Legion Street. There will be a road closure in the area and residents of Legion Street and parts of Colfax Avenue locally may experience a temporary shutdown as we make the repair.

UPDATE: The samples were all clear, and the boil water advisory is lifted, effective immediately. Thank you all for your patience in this matter.

The valve installation at the water tanks went well last night and the system was brought back online fully earlier this morning.

Because sections of the water system experienced a drop in pressure, the NJDEP requires a precautionary Boil Water Advisory, effective immediately and until water sampling results are obtained.

The following briefing outlines the details of what this means for you.

We will update this post as soon as the sample results are obtained and the advisory can be lifted.

NOTICE:
The Pompton Lakes MUA will be replacing two failed water valves at the Summit Avenue water tanks during the overnight hours from Wednesday, July 1st, 2026 to Thursday, July 2nd, 2026. Residents may experience greatly reduced water pressure between the hours of 12:00 am and 3:00 am. Upon completion of the work and the system being returned to full service, residents may experience discolored water. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

Thursday, May 7, 2026 UPDATE *

Be advised: We will be replacing a water main valve on Ringwood Avenue between Broad Street and Locust Street on Friday, May 8, 2026. We do not expect any interruption in water service, but there will be a temporary adjustment to the traffic pattern.

There will be a different post when we do the other valves, depending on the dates. We will schedule another replacement of water main valves on Broad Street near the Broad Street Bridge over Posts Brook (or Ringwood Avenue near the Railroad Tracks) at a later date. There will be a localized disruption in water service, but it should not last longer than an hour or two. If you experience discolored water, please let your cold water run until it clears.

UPDATE: The water main repair has been completed and the water service along Ringwood Avenue has been restored. We flushed the line, but local residents may still experience some discolored water.

*Due to a water main break located at the intersection of Ringwood Avenue and Broad Street, residents in the surrounding area may begin to experience little to no water pressure while the MUA locates and repairs the break. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working rapidly to correct the issue.
