Attention Residents:

The expected life span of the water meters in the borough is roughly 20 years. Due to this, we are seeing an increase in failures every quarter and we expect this to continue until all of the residential meters have been replaced. If you receive a door tag for a meter replacement, please call the Municipal Utilities Authority’s office (973) 839-3044 to make an appointment for meter replacement promptly.

Appointments are available Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:30 pm. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

*Spring Hydrant Flushing Notice*

Beginning Monday, April 28, 2025, and lasting approximately two weeks, the Pompton Lakes Borough Municipal Utilities Authority will conduct its Spring Hydrant Flushing Program. The hydrant flushing will be performed during the hours of 12:00 AM and 6:00 AM to cause the least inconvenience to our customers.

It should be noted that customers may experience temporary discoloration in their water or a drop in water pressure during the program.

We’ve had an eventful week at the MUA! The sewer main repair on Poplar Ave was completed over the weekend, and the road will be paved in between Christmas and New Years. We also installed a new pump at our largest sewer pump station! We’re so thankful to have such a great crew, working hard to get things done!

UPDATE: Please be advised Poplar Avenue, between Lincoln Avenue and Pine Street, will remain closed overnight except for local traffic. The repair of the sewer main will take place Saturday morning beginning at 8 am.
ALERT 12/13/2024: We are dealing with a potential sewer issue on Poplar Avenue, between Lincoln Avenue and Pine Street. The road will remain partially closed for the next few hours. We do not anticipate any disruption of service at this time.

Due to a water main break located at the intersection of Broadway and Lambert Street, residents in the surrounding area may begin to experience little to no water pressure while the PLMUA locates and repairs the break. We apologize for any inconvenience and are working rapidly to correct the issue.
