It has been a special year for the Ponca City High School “Wildcat Jazz Cats” Jazz Band. The Jazz Band earned a Superior rating on Wednesday, April 29 at the OSSAA State Jazz Band Contest, the highest rating a group can receive.

This group has made history for the Band program by earning straight 1s across the board for the first time since 2019!

“This is more than just a rating. It reflects their commitment to the group,” said Director Mr. Jason Salazar. “Their hard work, focus, and commitment all year long have paid off, and they have helped continue building a strong and well-rounded Jazz program here in Ponca City.”

The program is extremely proud of its students. Their growth this year has meant a great deal to the program, and this is a strong way to finish out the season.

Partners in Education Impact!

Last Friday, the Stolhand-Wells Group made a powerful end-of-the-year impact for their Partner in Education, Roosevelt Elementary, by paying off all unpaid lunch balances for the entire year and covering school lunches for every student through the remainder of the school year. This thoughtful and compassionate gift removes an expense for families and ensures every child has access to quality meals without financial worry, especially at a time when rising costs are affecting so many.

As Josh and Jessica Fields considered how to make an end-of-year gift to their PIE Partner truly meaningful, they chose a gesture that would reach every student and family at Roosevelt Elementary.

The Stolhand-Wells group has served as a PIE Partner throughout the year to Roosevelt Elementary, along with BDIW Law, RCB Bank, and Northeast Baptist Church.

The Partners in Education (PIE) Program, a 30+ year initiative of the Chamber’s Education & Workforce Committee, continues to showcase the power of businesses and schools working together. Through volunteering, mentoring, and providing resources, these partnerships are shaping stronger futures for our students and our community.

We will highlight our area schools’ PIE Partners' amazing support throughout the rest of the school year and throughout the summer, because when community and education come together, incredible things happen!
