Meet Gerard Wechet
Candidate for Boone County Board - District 1
Gerard Wechet is a proud single dad raising two teenage boys and a daughter and has called Boone County home for 20 years. This community isn’t just where he lives — it’s where he’s built his life and raised his family.
Gerard began his career serving 7½ years as a Deputy with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department. While working full-time, he earned his degree in Telecommunications Management from DeVry University. He then spent more than 20 years in the antenna industry in Engineering and Product Management roles, gaining valuable experience in budgeting, operations, and leadership. Today, he works for Winnebago County in Facilities, continuing his commitment to public service.
Gerard is running for the board to bring fiscal responsibility, transparency, and common-sense leadership to Boone County. He is committed to keeping taxes as low as possible by attracting new businesses — with a strong focus on supporting small businesses — while cutting unnecessary red tape.
As a longtime resident of this proud farming community, he also believes strongly in preserving Boone County’s farmland and agricultural heritage.
