Information has been received that the constable in Port O’Connor has been stopping golf carts and advising their cart requires a license plate. I want to assure the community I have not made such stops. I am the only constable appointed in Precinct 5. I do not have reserve or part time deputy constables.

If someone should be claiming to be constable for Precinct 5 in Port O’Connor/Precinct 5 or claiming to be any law enforcement official and can not provide verification, please notify the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.

Safety in our community and county is paramount for myself, my fellow constables in the adjoining precincts, and the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. I will repost the current golf cart rules and requirements for Precinct 5 to clear up any concerns.

If you have not received notice, the burn ban HAS BEEN LIFTED. With this in mind, please contact non-emergency dispatch at 361-553-4408 to report your burn and when you extinguish it, ensuring all fires are fully extinguished by dark.

As a reminder as we move into spring break time for our community….please remind your renters, friends, and family that UTV’s and golf carts can not travel on Adams. I made contact with a couple people this morning and notified them of the rules and alternate routes were provided.

The rules are set for safety of visitors and residents of our community and safety is paramount. I want everyone to enjoy their visit to our small corner of the world and spend their time safely.

I appreciate you all and I hope you have a safe spring break season!
