WASHINGTON ‼️ PLEASE SHARE THIS POST ‼️

We have 5 days left before the primary. 5 days to get out ballots in. Uncommitted Washington is a Palestinian led organization and they are asking everyone in Washington calling for a ceasefire to VOTE UNCOMMITTED.

On Tuesday we saw nearly 20% of Minnesota Democrats vote Uncommitted in their primary. This campaign launched in Michigan where Palestinian and Arab American elected officials and community leaders put the call out to vote Uncommitted and they helped deliver over 101,000 votes, giving them 2 Uncommitted delegates at the Democratic National Convention in August.

Hawai’i just delivered the largest percent of the vote for so far, with 29.1% of Democrat voters casting their vote for Uncommitted, which means 7 more delegates!

If you have not turned your ballot it, please listen to the call of Palestinian leaders and organizers in Washington an VOTE UNCOMMITTED! We can win delegates here in Washington if we can get our county county to 15% of the vote, but that WILL NOT be done through any write-in vote.

Please forward this to friends, family and community members! You can find out more and get involved by going to:

The National Climate Emergency Act of 2021, introduced on Tuesday by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Sanders, and Rep. Earl Blumenauer, would require the president to enact a state of national emergency, which would give him more power to direct resources and money to reverse the effects of the climate crisis. Experts say that’s still possible—although the world is getting dangerously close to a “point of no return.”

“We are in the midst of a climate emergency. It is time for the United States to act like it.”

"...the current best available science clearly shows that the action needed is not possible within today’s systems. We need a whole new way of thinking."

Just a check-in here and a little nudge.

Too many people seem to be putting faith in the incoming Administration in response to the trauma we have all endured over the past 4 years. However, Biden has never signaled in his entire career that he is working for anything other than to maintain the status quo and corporate control over our political system while ignoring the most urgent issues.

Until we are honest about how we arrive at situations of crisis nothing will change and we will be condemning future generations to worse and worse conditions. Shame on anyone who settles for comfort of the familiar instead of demanding better. If that is you, then you need to do some soul searching.

A short summary from the ‪ ‬ in Paris yesterday:
Bla bla bla nature
Bla bla bla very important
Bla bla bla ambitious
Bla bla bla green investments
Bla bla bla great opportunity
Bla bla bla green growth
Bla bla bla net zero emissions
Bla bla bla step up our game
Bla bla bla hopeful
Bla bla bla...

(while locking in decades of further destruction)

10 years ago our leaders signed the “ambitious” Aichi goals ”to protect wildlife and ecosystems”. By the end of 2020 it became clear they had failed on every single one.
Each day they have the possibility to act. But they choose not to. Instead they just sign some more “ambitious” targets long into the future while passing binding policies, locking in destructive business as usual such as the new EU Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)

Of course change doesn’t happen overnight and of course we need the ”bla bla bla” to get moving. The question is; how many decades of bla bla bla do we really need? Because there has been quite a few so far…
There are undoubtibly many great people working and pushing for change on government levels everywhere, but the current best available science clearly shows that the action needed is not possible within today’s systems. We need a whole new way of thinking.
And it gives me absolutely no pleasure or joy to keep pointing this out, but as it is now we can have as many meetings and conferences as we want - unless we start to treat this like the existential emergency it is, no real sufficient action will be possible. We cannot solve a crisis without treating it like a crisis.
Picture cred to owner (if you know who has made it please let me know and I will update asap)

When the older generations of today who stand in the way of progress are no longer influential in our society we will start to things change for the better. That day can’t come soon enough.

04/11/2020

We need a militant optimism that is rooted in seeing the systems of injustice clearly. We need young progressive leaders who are willing to step up to be empowered.

The older generations that continue to f**k us over will be gone sooner than later. This is a simple truth. When they are finally out of our way, we will bring forward a government based on social, racial, economic, environmental and political justice.

The struggle continues.

We are going to elect Bernie Sanders and the movement behind his campaign to the White House!

Bernie continues to build momentum, and could secure a path to the nomination by Super Tuesday, but he needs our help! Will you chip in $5 for us to turn out young voters in Super Tuesday states?
