Che bel festival!

I had an amazing time this past weekend at the Cellini Festival at Tully Park in New Hyde Park, a celebration of community and Italian tradition.

Congratulations to Lodge President Vincent Capasso, the Lodge Board, and all the Lodge members who made the festival such a success.

As a former 3rd Precinct Commanding Officer, I always looked forward to attending each year….and enjoying the delicious pasta and desserts!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, especially longtime festival volunteer and former North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman.

Saturday morning campaigning in Westbury alongside an all-star group of public servants, including New York State Senator Siela Bynoe, Nassau County Legislator Viviana Russell, and North Hempstead Council Member Robert Troiano was incredibly special and something I will not soon forget.

Thank you to all the volunteers who helped spread our message and to every resident who took the time to meet us, share their thoughts, and welcome us into the community.

Today’s eighth North Hempstead Listening Tour stop at La Sevillana Bakery in Westbury was one of the most meaningful yet.

Over delicious empanadas, coffee, and tres leches, I listened to neighbors whose journeys began in Honduras, Argentina, El Salvador, and Colombia. Their stories remind us that immigrants are not simply part of the American story…they have always helped write it.

As Town Supervisor, I will listen to people from every neighborhood and every walk of life, not just those from country clubs. Because in North Hempstead, everyone deserves a seat at the table and a voice in our future.

In the wake of the devastating floods in Nepal, my thoughts and prayers are with Amita Amin of Roslyn Heights, all those who remain missing, and their families during this unimaginably difficult time.

Today, I had the opportunity to tour Spectrum Designs in Port Washington, learn more about the vital work of NYSID (New York State Industries for the Disabled), and reaffirm my support for New York State’s Preferred Source Program.

It was a pleasure spending time with Spectrum Designs founder Patrick Bardsley, his remarkable staff, North Hempstead Council Member Mariann Dalimonte, and New York State Assembly candidate Kim Keiserman.

What I witnessed today was more than a workplace. It was a community built on dignity, independence, and the fundamental belief that every person deserves the chance to contribute their talents, pursue their dreams, and shape their own future.

That is the promise of this program and it is a promise worth keeping.

Together, we must ensure that these opportunities remain available for generations to come.
