2025 was a year of firsts for me. My first year out of office and my first year serving on the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board.

But it was also the first time I heard William call me mama, our first trip to the playground, the first day of pre-pre-pre-school drop off.

I loved having the opportunity to serve in the Assembly, but being able to witness these firsts has been my greatest adventure yet.

I’ve been overwhelmed this past year with the number of friends and colleagues encouraging me to run for Assembly again.

But for me, this isn’t the time. I look forward to spending 2026 continuing my service at the Board, volunteering with the organizations I fell in love with, going to all the events around town and feeling my heart flutter each time William accomplishes his firsts.

One of the first people I had the pleasure to get to know when I came into office in 2021 was Janet Esagoff. We had gotten word that she had just started an organization called Destination Great Neck, in order to help bring together the 9 villages of Great Neck and promote Great Neck’s vitality and businesses. Four years later, due to Janet’s energy and enthusiasm DGN is still going strong, and is the driving force behind many festivals, forums, social activities and more. Janet truly loves where she lives and is the epitome of a community organizer.

Please join me in congratulating Janet Esagoff on receiving a NYS Assembly proclamation recognizing her outstanding advocacy of Great Neck!

Over the last four years, I had the honor to meet some incredible people. Susan Berman has been a consistent presence throughout my entire time in office. We’ve worked closely together on many food and toy drives, and most significantly we collaborated on an Empathy Walk program, building solidarity and connection between Jewish and Asian high school students.

Susan is the epitome of a selfless community organizer who makes a true impact on people’s lives every day. It is an honor to know her and to present her with a NY State Assembly proclamation today in recognition of her outstanding work at the Sid Jacobson JCC Community Engagement Center.

It was truly touching how so many of her colleagues at the JCC were there today to show their appreciation. Thank you so much to David Black and everyone at the JCC for your friendship and for all that you do for the community.

Some people are so charitable by nature that they don’t even realize how exceptional their contributions are. Debbie Rabinowitz Harari is one of those people. For 13 years, Debbie volunteered at the Parish Outreach of Our Lady of Fatima Parish Social Ministry, doing critical work with Sister Kathy Somerville helping hundreds of vulnerable families in our community. But Debbie didn’t just show up once in a while when it fit into her schedule, she “worked” there regularly multiple days a week for over a decade. We did not even know until just recently that she was not a paid employee!

Debbie is now retiring from her work there, and to commemorate the occasion it was my pleasure to present her with a New York State Assembly proclamation. Please join me in thanking Debbie for her years of service to the community, and wishing her well in her future endeavors.

I had so much fun this morning reading to Mrs. Drucker‘s fifth grade class at Manorhaven Elementary School. Everyone was so welcoming and the kids were super engaged, William and I both really enjoyed ourselves! Big thank you to Mrs. Drucker, and to librarian Mrs. McRae-Fitzsimmons for helping to organize the visit and select the books. (And thanks also to Rachel Fox for her book selections for me too!)

I was heartbroken to learn of the death of Long Islander Omer Neutra, murdered by Hamas.

My thoughts are with his family who never gave up hope of bringing Omer home. His friends and the community all mourn his loss today.
