Guggenheim Discovery Preserve

Guggenheim Discovery Preserve The Guggenheim Discovery Preserve is a 17-acre natural space owned and managed by the Port Washington Union Free School District.

Located between the Guggenheim Elementary School and Middle Neck Road, the vibrant outdoor space is home to native woodland and meadow ecosystems offering students and community members access to outstanding recreational, educational, mental, and physical wellness experiences. The restoration of the Preserve is a collaborative effort between Residents Forward, PW Green, The Port Washington School

District, Transition Town Port Washington, and Littig House Community Center. As a Steering Committee, the organizations are planning site improvements, which include invasive species removal, trail mitigation, and curriculum and outdoor classroom redesign for enhanced educational and recreational use. This project is supported by a technical assistance grant from the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program.
