Assemblyman Daniel J. Norber (R,C-Great Neck) Statement on His Decision Not to Seek Re-Election
“After thoughtful reflection, I have decided I will not seek re-election to represent the 16th Assembly District in the New York State Assembly.
“Serving the people of the 16th District has been one of the greatest honors of my life. From the moment I was sworn into office, I understood this role was not merely a position, but a profound responsibility entrusted to me by my neighbors, friends and constituents. I am deeply grateful to the voters who placed their confidence in me and gave me the opportunity to advocate on their behalf.
“Throughout my time in Albany, I endeavored to be a consistent voice for common-sense solutions, with a particular focus on strengthening affordability and enhancing public safety. I approached every issue with the same guiding principles: listen carefully, work diligently and ensure the concerns of the people I represented were never lost in the process.
“Public service, however, comes with real sacrifices. While I remain proud of the work we accomplished, I am first and foremost a husband, a father and a son. After careful consideration, I have concluded that this is the right moment to step back from elected office and devote more time and attention to my family, who have supported me unconditionally throughout this journey.
“I extend my sincere thanks to my dedicated staff, my colleagues in the Legislature and the many leaders and organizations who offered guidance and partnership along the way, including Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jen DeSena, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, Nassau County Legislator Mazi Pilip and Nassau County Republican Committee Chairman Joseph G. Cairo Jr. I am especially grateful to the residents of the 16th Assembly District, whose trust and friendship I will always cherish.
“There are no words sufficient to convey what an honor it has been to serve you. Every conversation, every handshake and every shared concern has left a lasting impression on me. I hope that in my service, I demonstrated that your priorities were my priorities and that the trust you placed in me was never taken lightly.
“May God bless you all, and may God continue to bless the great state of New York.”
