Our Portage High School students enrolled in the Management Fundamentals classes have been gaining applicable, hand-on experience during their unit on contract negotiating!

The students recently participated in a contract negotiation simulation between a union and management. One half of the class worked with their teacher, Mr. Bernacki, to represent management, and the other half of the class worked with PHS media clerk Rebecca Belt, who also serves as the president of her union. The groups spent several days caucusing and engaging in rounds of collective bargaining. Not only were the two groups able to come to a contract agreement in the simulation, but both offers were very similar.

This was a great exercise in developing management and communication skills!

Mrs. Zelisko's 5th grade class at Aylesworth Elementary School read about the history of the Eiffle Tower on Valentine's Day, and then they took a hand at designing their own Eiffle Tower out of newspaper and tape! The towers had to be able to stand on their own for a minimum of 30 seconds. The kids had a great time being engineers for the morning.
