Our Residential Care program recently took a three-day educational trip, starting in southern Indiana, and ending at the Indianapolis State Fair!

The 5th annual Deakota Ingle Memorial Cruise-In was a huge success, despite the weather!

The Youth Service Bureau was once again honored to be the recipient of this year's event proceeds.

YSB Director PJ Corwin wrote today's blog post about the Cruise-In:

"Even with Mother Nature providing a little extra challenge, the community’s enthusiasm and generosity certainly didn’t wash away!

Thanks to the incredible support of everyone involved, this year’s event raised more than $1,000 for the YSB. These funds will help us continue our mission of promoting resiliency and assisting children, youth, families, and staff in achieving their greatest potential."

YSB recently held an agency outing for employees and family at the Portland Water Park!

YSB Director PJ Corwin wrote about the event in today's blog:

"We couldn't have asked for a better day! With sunny skies and beautiful weather, everyone had the opportunity to cool off in the pool, relax, and spend quality time together.

After a fun-filled morning at the water park, everyone gathered back at the YSB for a cookout. The delicious food, great conversations, and plenty of laughter made for a wonderful afternoon. It was a chance for coworkers and their families to connect in a different setting and build the relationships that help make YSB such a supportive place to work."

YSB is honored once again to be the recipient of the 5th annual Deakota Ingle Memorial Cruise-In! This charity fundraiser features a classic car cruise, door prizes, a live DJ, and dash plaques for the first 50! We hope to see you there!

When: Fri, August 7th, 4pm-8pm

The re-siding project on our Residential facility is complete, and the results look spectacular!

Scott Bissell, YSB's facilities manager, wrote today's blog post celebrating the project's completion, while remarking on the legacy and future of the program:

"Even though the color has changed, what truly matters has stayed the same. The house continues to be a safe, supportive, and caring home for the people who live there. The memories, relationships, and sense of community inside these walls remain unchanged."

YSB is honored to be the chosen beneficiary of this year's Jay County Chainsaw Carving Invitational!

The event is scheduled for Sept. 11-13th, at the Jay County Fair (806 E Votaw St, Portland IN).

Events include a free Friday night movie, free Saturday night concert, vendors, a carving exhibition with 8 carvers, and a Sunday carving auction!

YSB is currently hiring a Full-Time KARSS/SP Coordinator!

Duties as coordinator for the Keeping-At-Risk-Students-in-School & Safe Place programs include:

- Maintain appointments with youth daily or as often as schedule will permit.
- Meet with the family as needed, but at least monthly, with appointments set up one week in advance.
- Organize, schedule, transport to and from, and assist youth with community service activity.
- Provide youth with academic assistance through tutoring and helping them with homework, as needed, to insure improved academic success.
- Responsible for maintaining and recruiting safe place sites throughout the county
- Present Safe Place trainings to proposed/interested sites
