Oregon is marking Homeownership Month with real progress: Nearly 1,000 new homeowners last year through stateโ€‘supported programs โ€” including firstโ€‘time buyers, veterans, and rural families. ๐Ÿกโœจ

The Habitat network is proud to be part of this momentum and will keep pushing for the investments needed to open doors for even more Oregonians.

Our team spent a few days along the Columbia River Gorge recharging, reconnecting, and planning for another missionโ€‘driven year ahead. We visited the Columbia Gorge Habitat for Humanity ReStore, toured established Habitat homes in The Dalles, explored future development in Hood River, and even stepped into the shoes of affiliate decisionโ€‘makers by playing Humanity Land โ€” a game that brings the complexities of building more homes to life. Grateful for the inspiration, the partnership, and the reminder of why this work matters every day. Friends of Columbia Gorge Habitat for Humanity

Affordable homeownership takes all of us โ€” and our partners remind us whatโ€™s possible when we show up together.

Last week's Land Trust Practicum underscored something we see every day: Behind every affordable home is a community of partners opening doors in big and small ways. From lenders expanding access, to builders turning blueprints into reality, to foundations and donors investing in stronger neighborhoods, to the connectors and advocates who help remove barriers and champion programs like LIFT Homeownership โ€” this work moves forward because you do.

Letโ€™s keep opening the door, together.

Our leadership team spent last week in Sisters learning about Community Land Trusts with Habitat for Humanity of Oregon. We heard all about the importance of this model and how it can help keep homes affordable for generations to come!

TFW your big training event is over ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘ Sending a huge THANK YOU to everyone who joined us in Central Oregon this week to learn about permanent affordability. We are so lucky to connect with so many brilliant housing innovators. Weโ€™ll share a bigger recap soon.

The Land Trust Practicum has highlighted that affordable homeownership doesnโ€™t happen in isolation โ€” it takes a village, and then some.

Behind every home is a network of partners working together to make it possible: lenders who believe in access, builders who bring homes to life, private foundations and other donors that invest in stronger communities, connectors who bridge gaps, and state and local legislators who help tackle barriers and champion critical funding programs like LIFT Homeownership.

These collaborations are what allow nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity to build more homes, reach more families, and turn the dream of homeownership into reality

When we innovate and invest together, we open more doors.

We kicked off the Land Trust Practicum with a bus tour across Sisters, exploring projects that are shaping the communityโ€™s future. We visited two Sisters Habitat for Humanity developments โ€” one currently underway and another on the horizon โ€” as well as a Fresh Start Home by First Story. Together, these projects showcase how mixed-income and middle housing can expand affordability and create greater stability for local households โ€” all while ensuring the homes remain permanently affordable for generations to come. Thanks to Hayden Homes and Simplicity by Hayden Homes for making the tour possible.

Weโ€™re in Sisters, Oregon this week for the first-ever Land Trust Practicum.

Presented in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Oregon, Proud Ground, and Oregon Housing and Community Services, the Practicum will provide a structured pathway through the legal, financial, and stewardship practices that make permanent affordable homeownership possible. Participants will gain tools, strategies, and peer connections to navigate even the most complex home closings with confidence.

We are honored to collaborate with so many amazing colleagues to host this training โ€” weโ€™ll share more throughout the event!

Please join us in thanking our title sponsor, Columbia Bank, for supporting this event ๐Ÿ‘
