Oregon Energy Fund OEF is a statewide nonprofit that helps Oregonians pay their energy bills during financial crisis. Pay the gas bill or buy food? Lights or medicine? Rent or heat?

For many Oregon families, a sudden illness, unexpected expense, or loss of wages can quickly turn into a crisis. And when that storm hits, these families find themselves facing agonizing decisions. But it doesn’t have to be that way...

At Oregon Energy Fund, we have a vision. A vision that includes neighbors helping neighbors. Together, we can help provide basic needs to families facing hardships

– powering our neighbors’ lives when they need us most. The Oregon Energy Fund is a 34-year-old statewide charitable organization providing energy assistance to thousands of Oregonians in times of unexpected crisis. Through the generous contributions of their neighbors, we help struggling Oregonians keep a roof over their heads, food on the table, light to see and heat in the cold. With the power of giving, we can provide the basic needs that allow people to live productive and healthy lives.

Our Story

Imagine a life without electricity. No heat to keep your family warm in the winter. No refrigerator to keep your food fresh. No light for your kids to do their homework by.

This year, one in three Oregonians will face this possibility.

As Oregon’s cost of living continues to rise, more of our neighbors are struggling to cover basic expenses like rent, groceries, medicine, and utilities. This also means that an unexpected medical emergency, layoff, or car accident can be financially catastrophic - and can force impossible decisions. Do you pay the rent or do you buy groceries? Do you pick up your medication, or do you pay the electric bill?

We believe no one should have to make these choices.
