Greetings!
Cradock Chapter 41 is Closed
close_sign_shop.jpg

Out of an abundance of caution, we will be closed until (at least) May 1, 2020. While we want to continue providing world-class claims assistance, we will not be able to help walk-ins and will not be making any new appointments until further notice.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. As always, your claim is very important to us, but your safety is our driving concern.

We are saddened to report our dear Comrade Dionne McIntyre has gone to answer the final roll call in glory.

A belated thank you to Commander Smith and all of our volunteers during our Homeless Assistance cold weather stand down. Our chapter aided 34 local homeless vets and our local neighborhood citizens with great meals, movies, a warm place to sleep and a mean game of spades over the past two weeks. Always a privilege to serve and they are always grateful.

Presumptive benefits to Blue Water Navy #veterans are a major win: The court was willing to take the unusual step of overruling its previous decision, and instead ruled in favor of the Blue Water Navy veterans. #KeepThePromise #Salute

Awesome story for ya Friday!!!

Marine Corps #veteran Anthony Maggert was driving to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, when he saw a man stranded on the side of the road.

"I didn't know who it was. I just know that there's a vehicle, there's a person coming out of the vehicle that looked like they were in need. And I thought, 'well, nobody else is stopping,'" Maggert said.

After he pulled over, he was stunned to see it was former Secretary of State Colin Powell. Maggert proceeded to change a flat tire for the general.

Powell would make his appreciation known via Facebook... "Thanks, Anthony. You touched my soul and reminded me about what this country is all about and why it is so great. Let's stop screaming at each other. Let's just take care of each other. You made my day," read part of his post. #Salute

Happy Friday!!!. Another successful trip to DAV Chapter 61 to help with claims. We also got a veteran in danger of homelessness some solid help as well. Thank you, Commander Riley. It is always an honor to serve and it has been a busy year already.

The freezing weather allowed us the privilege to open our chapter to homeless veterans Sunday and Monday of this week. They get dinner and breakfast, coffee, tea, a few movies to watch and a warm comfortable place to sleep. Volunteers are always needed so let us know if you'd like to help!!

A few pictures of #DAVCradockChapter41 out at #BaySideHarleyDavidson for Baysides Live Tent Auction this weekend. Providing refreshment sales and a side of information. Getting the word out about the wonderful things the DAV does to help Disabled American Veterans!
I have a friend and her veteran husband in Colorado springs who cannot get ahold of anyone at their DAV. Multiple failed attempts to speak to someone. No returned calls. She is at her breaking point and needs help. Can someone from Craddick find out if that DAV in Colorado Springs closed down? TYIA
