Join us for an Open House at the OSU Extension Office to see what we’re all about and the programs we offer right here in LeFlore County.

We’re set up at the LeFlore County Ag Trade Show - located at the fair barn by the rodeo arena. Come out and see us.

It’s a great turnout, and producers are already here earning their Poultry Credit Hours. Stop by, connect, learn something new, and be part of what’s going on in our ag community. 🌾

This the 19th year that we have sponsored this event. There is an update at 1 pm for the New Worl Screw Worm and Asian Longhorn Tick. Come out and see us for a free lunch and visit vendor booths.

We’re excited to host the 19th Annual Eastern Oklahoma Ag Trade Show on April 15th at the LeFlore County Fairgrounds.

This year’s program includes updates from USDA and the Conservation District, along with timely topics for producers such as poultry mortality management, GPS guidance systems, and updates on New World screwworm and Asian longhorn tick.

Poultry CEU credits will be offered, and lunch is provided thanks to our sponsors. There will also be vendor booths set up throughout the day.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the program will wrap up at 2:00 p.m.

We hope to see you there.

Have you ever wondered how the first conservation district came to be? We owe it all to Hugh Hammond Bennett!🌱

In 1937, the first soil conservation district in the United States was established in Brown Creek, North Carolina — Bennett’s hometown. As a child, he discovered the value of soil protection by helping his father build terraces on their family farm.

Following the Dust Bowl, Bennett championed a new approach: local conservation districts managed by those who understand the land best. Brown Creek farmers voted to form the first district, setting an example for others nationwide.

Now, over 3,000 conservation districts across the country help communities protect soil, water, forests, and wildlife. Bennett saw these districts as powerful tools for conserving natural resources—a belief that remains true nearly 90 years later. 🌎
