When the tones drop and someone in our community is having one of the worst days of their life, our firefighters show up. They leave their families, their dinners, their beds, their jobs—whatever they’re doing—to go help someone else.

Recently, Murry Spur Fire Chief Hambright and his family lost their entire home to a fire.

Now it’s our turn to show up for him.

The Murry Spur Fire Department is hosting a benefit for Chief Hambright and his family at the Choctaw Community Center in Spiro.

Dine-in or carry-out

And there will be homemade desserts available for purchase separately, so come hungry.

Chief Hambright has spent his time serving and protecting his community. Losing your home and everything inside it is something no family should have to go through, and this is one of those times when we get the chance to remind someone who is always there for everybody else that his community is here for him too.

Come grab lunch. Buy a dessert (or three, we don't judge). Make a donation if you can. And most importantly, come show Chief Hambright and his family just how much this community supports them.

The Poteau Fire Department is hosting our 5th annual 9/11 memorial stair climb at the Poteau Football Stadium on Saturday September 5th. Some good ideas here for fire drills. Take a look and let us know which ones are your favorites. We might try to incorporate a couple in our October 24th county training day.

In our continued effort to help identify and solve FIREFIGHTING problems with “real world” solutions, we now have a basic, easy to follow and printable “WEEKLY FIRE DRILL” for use at your Fire Department.
