Poteet ISD Public School Serving the Poteet Texas Area The city derived it's name in 1886 from the area's blacksmith and first postmaster, Francis Marion Poteet.

Poteet is located at the junction of farm road 476 and state highway 16, the city of Poteet is twenty miles south of San Antonio in north central Atascosa County. This rural community is most know as the "Strawberry Capital of Texas" and celebrates this distinction every April with the Strawberry Festival . Poteet is a farming community with a population of 3,200. Poteet ISD serves the surrounding

community with 4 schools, Poteet Elementary (Pre-K-3), Intermediate Campus (4-5), Jr. High School (6-8), High School (9-12), and Poteet ACES. Approximately 1700 students are served throughout the district's 17.5 sq miles. Eighty-two percent (82%) of the district's student population is Hispanic. Seventy percent (70%) of the student population is from low-income families. All of the district campuses are school-wide Title I campuses. Fifty-four percent (54%) of the students are identified as at-risk. The district employs 129 teachers at the four campuses. In addition, there are 47 instructional aides. 🌟 Poteet FFA Leadership in Action!

Yesterday, 22 of our 8th and 9th grade students, along with the Poteet FFA Officer Team, attended the Wintergarden District Leadership Lab!

Students learned more about FFA while building valuable leadership skills. Our district officers, Wiley Swan and Elizabeth Lopez, also hosted workshops to help fellow students grow as leaders.

🩺 Exploring Careers in Health Science!

Today, our Poteet High School Health Science juniors and seniors visited Concorde College to learn more about their medical and dental programs.

Students toured the campus, visited the Surgical Technology and Dental Assistant classrooms, and learned about program and financial options.

Thank you to Concorde College for giving our students a great look into future careers in healthcare!
