Please be aware of the early voting schedule for both the school district and the City of Poteet.

The state has required that there will be no early voting on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in observance of San Jacinto Day.

Be sure to plan accordingly and stay informed on voting dates and times.

This morning we received a report of a missing 11 year old boy. He was last seen at his home and never made it to the bus stop or to school. As parents, school officials, and law enforcement swung into action, a search of the area commenced.

Now, while all Sheriffs are lawmen, in most counties they are administrators — running the agency from behind a desk.

In Atascosa County, Sheriff Jake Guerra got in his truck and went looking himself.

With police and deputies searching, the Sheriff located the boy walking north of Pleasanton, safe and sound, and personally drove him to a reunification point to be with his family.

Sheriff Guerra doesn't expect accolades and won't seek out the spotlight for this... And that's exactly why we're shining it on him.
