➡️ As noted in the November Cascades Current, the Board of Directors approved a 5% increase to all pipestem owners' escrow payments. Though not a large increase, if done annually it should help to increase the escrow accounts over time. The chart below reflects these changes.

🚧If your pipestem is in need of maintenance, please contact Dana at [email protected] to inquire about the total of your pipestem's escrow account.

The trick to treating your family to a happy Halloween includes making safety a priority.

Here are a few hints that may help.

- Use only fire-retardant material for costumes.
- Make sure costumes are not so long as to become a tripping hazard. Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injuries on Halloween.
- Use light colored material and strips of retro-reflective tape on costumes to help make the children visible.
- Make sure children only wear masks that do not block their vision.
- Knives, swords and similar accessories should be made of cardboard or flexible material. Don’t let children carry sharp objects.
- Don’t let trick-or-treaters cross dark or unknown yards where unseen objects or uneven terrain can trip them.
- Have an adult supervise trick-or-treating for children 12 and under. Know the names of older children’s companions.
- Children should travel only to familiar areas and along a route they’ve informed their parents of in advance.
- Establish a return time and see that your youngsters have a watch.
- Stress that they should not eat any treat until you have inspected it.
- Make sure children understand pedestrian/traffic safety rules.

♻️Reminder that the Cascades Trash Bash is THIS Weekend!
Come join our community and Keep Loudoun Beautiful to pick up trash in and around the Cascades area. This is a great event for the entire family!

Just a quick reminder that the Fall Cascades Trash Bash & Food Drive is this Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 12:30 PM to 5 PM, noting that the event really doesn’t start until 1 PM, but the “doors open” at 12:30 PM for those early birds. Also note that we’ll be meeting again at the Quarterpath Trace Community Center, at 20430 Quarterpath Trace Circle, Sterling, VA 20165. Please visit www.sempertech.com/ctb for more details, the official event flyer, tips, FAQs, photos from previous cleanups, the registration page, and critical event crew tasks that need filling, noting that this will sadly be the last Cascades Trash Bash unless residents step-up and help run the event.

In addition, this event is a great opportunity to take advantage of not one, not two, but three additional community services that benefit you, those in need, and our planet, including our signature food drive to help those less fortunate in Loudoun, our Keep Loudoun Beautiful Got Sneakers collection to send your unwanted adult sneakers to those that desperately need them, and our new paint recycling service, where we’ve partnered with Yuck Old Paint to make it extremely convenient for you to responsibly (and legally) dispose of your unwanted paint so it can be put to work here at home and around the world where paint is needed by those that can’t afford it. Keep in mind that while we always could use more volunteers, you don’t need to participate in the litter cleanup to make a lasting difference by supporting these three humanitarian services, so be sure to learn more about them and the collection times at www.sempertech.com/ctb.

Don’t miss-out on this perfect opportunity to beautify your community while enjoying peaking Fall foliage, and don’t forget your favorite reusable water bottle so you can stay hydrated in an Earth-friendly way.

Please register right now so we can email you with any last minute updates, like needing to switch to the November 3 rain date and we’re happy to sign-off on the community service hours worked if you bring your forms.

Spread the word, please, and see you Sunday!

The Association office has been receiving an increased number of calls and emails regarding dogs not being leashed. We would like to remind dog owners of their responsibilities to comply with Loudoun County and the Association's policy relating to dogs. The Association’s pet policy can be found on our website (www.cascadesva.com) under Resident Information and selecting the Pet Policy link. Loudoun County ordinances are in effect on Association property. County ordinances can be found on the Loudoun County government website (www.loudoun.gov) under the animal control services department homepage. County ordinances require that all dogs four months and older be licensed with the County and that no owner or custodian shall allow a dog to run at large.

If any resident has a concern or would like to file a complaint against the dog violating a County ordinance they should contact County Animal Control by calling (703) 777-0406. Thank you.
