In continuing to support our community, the Loudoun Soccer Family has created a campaign to bring joy, hope and positivity to the citizens of Loudoun during this trying time. Our friends at Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services are working with the Loudoun County Government to send over 245 daily meals to local senior citizens throughout our community who are living independently.

We are asking all players, families and friends to consider sending a note, letter, or drawing signed "From Loudoun Soccer" and emailing your submission to [email protected] - These notes will be included with each meal and sure to bring smiles throughout Loudoun. #RepTheRed

โžก๏ธ Glass food and beverage containers continue to be recycled in Cascades.โฌ…๏ธ

โ™ป๏ธ Before being recycled, all glass containers should be empty and relatively clean, with little or no food residue or liquids, and should be placed loosely in the recycling bin, not in plastic bags. Rinse bottles and jars to remove food waste.
Remove lids from jars and bottles.

โ™ป๏ธ Taking these steps will help reduce the contamination.

โ™ป๏ธ Other types of glass such as windows, mirrors, or plates should not be included in curbside recycling.

This morning, I was approached by this lovely doe. I am a new senior ranger here, and I was rather surprised to see how tame, and habituated to both cars and humans these "wild" animals are.

Please do not feed, or pet, or interact with the deer here.

Feeding the deer, might seem like a nice or fun thing to do. They are adorable (I took this picture from the Ranger truck this morning) they are fuzzy, and it is a fascinating experience to be so close to wildlife. All this does, is promote human-wildlife interactions.

What happens when humans and wildlife interact?

The deer are habituated to vehicles, this results in increased collisions with deer. This seldom ends well for the deer, and results in expensive damage to vehicles, and a great deal of pain and suffering, and ultimately death (in most cases) for our deer.

The deer are no longer afraid of people, and actively seek out human interaction, because they associate us with food. This poses risks to our physical safety, and can put us at risk for Lyme Disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (carried by the ticks, living parasitically on deer)

We have a plethora of flora for these beauties to feast on within the boundaries of this park, and furthermore, these animals rely on a specific diet. Feeding them sugars, and starches can be detrimental to their physical health over the long term.

Please let them exist, in their natural state of being, untouched by us, and appreciate them from a distance.

Our deer have become dangerously reliant on people for food. The food given to them by people is deficient in nutrients these animals need in order to survive. Deer are ruminants, they have four stomachs, and their digestive system relies on gut flora to process the variety of forage/browse they eat during each season.

Supplemental feeding with high sugar, extremely processed foods actually causes a shift in gut-bacteria, resulting in malnutrition. So, we, in turn have a self-feeding program, so to speak, where people see thin deer, with lackluster coats and are concerned the deer are not being fed enough. The reason why they are malnourished, is due the patrons who feed them treats. Their stomachs are not able to digest, or process the foods patrons are feeding them, and it throws their entire body off. People are killing deer with kindness, essentially. We understand people mean well, but these gut flora are essential for deer, and they change with each season. Introduction of these treats, disallows their proper digestion of the correct foods they graze on naturally. Just because the deer take the food offered, does not mean it is okay for them.

Thanks for understanding!!

Introducing โ€œMeet the Team Tuesdays!โ€ Today we would love to introduce Brandon Harlow, Sous Chef at Roots 657, the restaurant is located in Leesburg, Virginia. Brandon is a Northern Virginia native and was born in Fairfax County, Virginia. He graduated from Potomac Falls, VA High School in Sterling. He and his family later moved to Loudoun County. His maternal family owned a small restaurant in Vienna, Virginia. His upbringing has always involved food. Gluttony of ethnic foods was the norm at family gatherings. Brandonโ€™s paternal family really loves to eat! After high school, Brandon explored the occupational trade. He joined Roots 657 in 2016 before the cafรฉ opened to the public in 2017. His initial job was as a dishwasher, then promoted to Head Steward, coordinating the activities of the back kitchen staff. Brandon gained applicable skills learning from Roots restaurant culinary experts. Chef Rich Rosendale recognized his hard work and dedication to the craft. With Chefโ€™s mentorship and guidance, he has flourished into the role of Sous Chef. Brandon continues to support Chef Rosendale with special events. His trip with Chef to the Ocean Reef Club event in Key Largo, Florida, remains a culinary experience. He actively participates in other special catering events that include an International hotel executive-hosted annual holiday party, a private country clubโ€™s employee celebration, and Chefโ€™s onsite mastery culinary classes. When he is not interacting with customers and staff members at Roots, he enjoys gaming, fishing, and the armory. He is a great conversationalist and appreciates quality time with friends and family. ----------------- We could see how much effort you put and we really appreciate your reliability in all of you do from the restaurant to special events. On behalf of Roots 657, we also thank you for always bringing great food to the table! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™Œ Stay tuned for next week when you'll be meeting our Senior Media Planner | Rosendale Media. #MeetTheTeamTuesday

My name is Bill Incatasciato, and I am the admin for my page โ€œLoudoun Christmas Lights,โ€ My family and I love Christmas Lights and enjoy driving around the area to see the wonderful displays that other people set up. Unfortunately, I could never find a reliable listing of Christmas Light displays in Loudoun County, so I decided to create a comprehensive list of large and creative displays three years ago. I wanted to help other people find local Christmas displays in Loudoun County and to provide a platform for those who do large and/or cool displays to show them off to others. This page is intended for people in Loudoun County (and maybe really close by) to post their homes so that others may find them and appreciate the cheer they have created on their properties. This is the third year that I have been doing this, and hope that it continues to grow and become a valuable resource for our community. I ask that you help in one or all of the following ways: โ€ข Like/follow and share my page with others. โ€ข Send me photos and locations of Christmas light displays so I can post onto the page. It doesnโ€™t have to be just your house. I do believe we should share the joy that others create. โ€ข Visit the displays and enjoy the effort that was put into them. When posting a picture, please include an address, hours, (if applicable), any restrictions/limitations (i.e. no head lights, don't block driveways, accepting donations, etcโ€ฆ,) and any other commentary. Please note, this a family friendly site, and I will review each submission prior to posting. Thanks for helping light up Loudoun County for the holidays! https://www.facebook.com/LoudounChristmasLights/ @Loudounchristm1
