The individual being described is not a member of the Pottsville Parks and Recreation Commission. The Commission is made up of community volunteers who work to support and improve our parks, recreation opportunities, and quality of life in Pottsville.

We care about our community, and we appreciate residents bringing concerns forward. We also believe it’s important to contact the appropriate authorities so the situation can be properly addressed.

Because our page, has been tagged in these posts, we felt it was important to make that distinction. We also don’t want to make assumptions about who the individual is, their intentions, or what may have happened without knowing the full circumstances.

We have two Family Fun Nights this week!

Today we will be at the Jalappa playground from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Tomorrow we’ll be at Joulwan Park (East Side playground).

Can’t wait to see you there!

Today at Rotary Playground, we found the porta-potty knocked over, again, the door broken, a swing damaged, and a trash can pushed over.

And honestly… it’s heartbreaking.

The Parks & Recreation Commission is working hard to bring more family-friendly activities, events, and improvements to our city’s parks. Our City Parks Department is working hard, too. There are people behind the scenes giving their time, energy, and resources because they believe Pottsville can be better.

When something is provided for our community, it should be treated with respect. When something is damaged, someone has to pay to repair it. And when that happens over and over again, those resources could have gone toward more playground improvements, new equipment, more events, and more opportunities for our families.

We want our parks to be places where kids can play, families can gather, and our community can be proud.

So this is a message to our community, and especially to our teens:

Have fun. Be loud. Enjoy the parks. Make memories. But don’t destroy them.

If you see someone damaging city property, please speak up or report it. These parks belong to all of us, and keeping them safe and welcoming is a responsibility we all share.

We are working hard to make our city better.

Please help us protect what we’re building.
