What an amazing day, an amazing event, and a HUGE win for the Hudson Valley Guns and Hoses organization!

On the scoreboard the finest took the game 3-1 and reclaimed the trophy, however, everyone involved in this great event took the W.

Thank you to the players, refs, on ice staff, off ice personnel, volunteers, family, friends, supporters, and spectators for making this year’s hockey classic one of the best yet!

Your commitment and dedication is what keeps our charity organization alive and flourishing, and we cannot thank you enough!

A special thank you to the MJN Convention Center and the McCann Ice Arena personnel for their extremely generous contributions so that this event can be so successful! Your partnership is second to none!

Good morning HVGnH faithful!

As of 945am we are still on for this afternoon.

The snow in our area is expected to taper off and stay away from the immediate area until mid evening. As we know with all weather events things change but it appears there will be that much needed window of opportunity to ensure our event goes as planned and everyone can still return home safely before Mother Nature makes her presence felt!

Just as a reminder there will be some parking restrictions outside the civic center.

*****Update on tomorrows event*****

With the snow still forecasted to remain light and minimal until the late evening hours we will still be hosting our hockey classic as of this time.

With that said, the City of Poughkeepsie has declared a snow emergency beginning at 6am tomorrow morning. What does that mean for us?

There is little to no impact for us other than on street parking on Market St and Civic Center Plz which is the one way street that leads to the McCann Ice Arena will not be allowed. This declaration must be made many hours before any potential major snow event so that residents and visitors have ample time to move their vehicles and plan ahead. This doesn’t mean a travel ban or not being able to drive in the city.

All City of Poughkeepsie public lots are open and free of charge to park. Some of the closest parking is as follows:

Financial Plaza Parking Deck- 41 Civic Center Plz
Duro Lot- 221 Main St
Liberty St Lot- 23 Cannon St
Academy St Lot- 50 Cannon St
Crannell St Lot- 35 Crannell St

Additional parking is available in the Double Tree by Hilton Lot at 40 Civic Center Plaza, for a fee set by the hotel (believed to be $7.00 an hour).

We are doing our best to work with the City of Poughkeepsie and the City of Poughkeepsie Police to ensure all of our fans and spectators will have adequate parking for the event!

We are please to announce that the Mid Hudson Polar Bears and Mid Hudson Vikings will be scrimmaging during our 1st intermission! These two youth hockey teams are certainly going to put on a show for the fans! Don’t miss these talented younger!

Good afternoon,

We are aware of the impending snow forecasted for tomorrow. As of this time we will still be hosting the event as planned. We are in contact with the City of Poughkeepsie and the McCann Ice Arena staff and if there are any significant changes we will post them here as soon as possible.

The safety of all of our players, friends, family, and supporters is our primary concern, however, at this time it appears the snow will be light and very low amounts until the late evening into tomorrow night.

This is a free event for the public, no tickets are needed. Just show up, support the cause and enjoy the day!

1:30p- Doors open to the Public
1:50p- Team warm-ups
2:15p- Team Introductions
2:20p- Opening Ceremonies and National Anthem
240p- Puck-Drop

1st Intermission- Mid Hudson Vikings and Mid Hudson Polar Bears 8U mites on ice

2nd Intermission- Chuck-a-puck- for a prize closest to center ice

Post game free skate with the players- bring your own skates or “rent” them from the rink (skate rentals donated by the McCann Ice Arena)

This year’s event is going to be the best yet! Don’t miss out!
