Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: Honoring Puerto Rican History in the U.S. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ท

Did you know? Puerto Ricans have been part of the U.S. for over a century! After the Spanish-American War in 1898, Puerto Rico became a U.S. territory, and Puerto Ricans began migrating to the mainland in significant numbers. By the early 1900s, many settled in cities like New York, where they laid the foundation for vibrant communities that still thrive today.

As U.S. citizens since 1917, Puerto Ricans have proudly contributed to American society in politics, art, music, and countless other fields. ๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡ทโœจ

We will post throughout the month, highlighting notable historical Boricuas who have made a difference on the island and in the diaspora.

Our first feature is Antonia Pantoja (1922-2002)

Antonia Panoja was a trailblazing Puerto Rican educator, activist, and civil rights leader. She founded ASPIRA in 1961, an organization focused on empowering Puerto Rican and Latino youth through education and leadership development. Pantoja was a fierce advocate for bilingual education and fought to improve opportunities for Latinos in the U.S. Her dedication to social justice earned her the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996. Today, her legacy continues to inspire efforts for equity in education and civil rights.

Antonia was given a posthumous honoree title by the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in 2023.

Welcome to Dadvember, our unique take on Movember! This month, we're putting a spotlight on the incredible dads and father figures in our communities. Inspired by our board member, Dr. Clinton Boyd, Jr.'s wisdom, Dadvember is all about celebrating and supporting the health and well-being of fathers. They play a vital role not just in our families but in shaping stronger, healthier communities. Let's give them the recognition and resources they need to thrive. Join us in honoring these amazing men throughout November! ๐Ÿง”๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ’™

Isaiah 1:2-3 (KJV) " Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider." As I expressed to the men at prison, we need to focus on the pure religion not the world's view of religion. Verse 15, 16 "IAnd when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;" churches need to keep the white nationalist out of the pulit. I don't know if you like to be compared to an ox, and or a donkey.

(John 18:38) Pilate asking what is truth? To Jesus, imagine looking into Jesus eyes what did Pilate see? It was pure truth. Truth is black and white, not someone's filter, or idea of truth. How important is truth, in prison men use truth as money. To our father in heaven, he can not lie, Jesus is truth, he will set you free. Something to Ponder in today's climate in the United States.
