Today with the help of the Central Arizona Fire and Medical, Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, and Deputy Do-Right, we went to visit Rumi to wish him a happy birthday! 🎉

Upon our arrival we all greeted Rumi, sang happy birthday and gave him a card & stickers. Unfortunately, Rumi has a medical condition that does not allow him to go outside and play.

We were so happy to help Rumi celebrate his birthday!

Not just for Star Wars fans...

The challenging times we’re currently facing have truly brought out the best in many from the Star Wars community, especially those first responders, front-liners and volunteers who are working to keep us all safe. Now that's a birthday parade!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DREW!

On Sunday, April 26, 2020, what an exciting day for Drew from Prescott Valley! Deputies from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Officers from the Prescott Valley Police Department, joined forces to celebrate Drew’s 9th birthday. Drew was greeted by a lights and siren parade which included K9 deputies (Drew loves dogs), and of course, Deputy Do-Right. Even though it was his birthday, Drew also wanted thank deputies and officers for their service and provided drinks and snacks for everyone. Deputy Do-Right presented Drew with several birthday gifts and the whole group came together to sing Happy Birthday.

It was a memorable day- Deputies and Officers were honored by the opportunity to brighten Drew’s birthday and put a big smile on his face –

Note - Drew has some special needs and the family oversaw physical distancing concerns during the event to permit limited contact in light of creating a wonderful memory.

A BOOK READING PREMIER FOR KIDS (AND THEIR PARENTS) will be the "Whatif Monster" as read by Deputy Scott Reed. This book is a lot of fun for kids and has a great message parents/guardians can reinforce. Deputy Reed has set up the video to premier at 11 am tomorrow, Thursday. The production involves close ups of each page so your child can follow along as the book is read.

There may even be an appearance by Deputy Do-Right!

So parents, if your kids are available tomorrow at 11 AM, open our FB page and watch the premier of the Whatif Monster story. Otherwise, the video will post on the page for later playing.

Thanks- from YCSO's Right by Kids program and Deputy Do-Right

As you get out of the house to enjoy the great outdoors of Yavapai County, watch out for things that slither! They rarely bite unless provoked or threatened.

If a bite occurs, seek treatment immediately!
A snake bite is worthy of a call to 9-1-1. Cellular service permitting - dispatch operators can put you in contact with emergency medical personnel.

* ADDED NOTE: Some of our hiking trails may become busy with hikers. Please remember to observe current "social distancing" guidelines.

Learn Gun Safety with Eddie Eagle and the Wing Team

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho36vonT3Rw

Today I've inserted a link to an entertaining instructional video for kids. It's purpose is to keep children safe if they were to find a gun. With Covid19 issues keeping kids and families inside the home, it is more important than ever to make sure that gun owners are securing those weapons properly!

With schools shut down, kids are finding themselves with the sort of free time they haven't experienced ever. This may lead to exploration of closets or other rooms within the home that might be "danger zones".

Some kids are now being cared for in homes of people, even relatives, that don't know how to secure a home for the safety of kids. As parents and guardians I strongly urge you to ask the caretaker about any guns (and other hazards such as medications) in the home and how they are being secured.

The attached 8 minute long video will keep children's attention for about 8 minutes, but more importantly it will teach them how to stay safe if they "locate" a firearm.

THANKS EVERYONE!

In spring 2015, the NRA introduced a brand new Eddie Eagle video. Started in 1988, the Eddie Eagle GunSafe program has reached more than 28 million children ...

We chose to read ANTON CAN DO MAGIC, by Ole Konnecke. It's a hilarious children's book with strong messaging about responsibility and believing in yourself.
