Thank you Skye Brickhouse for interning with Laura Lee Thompson Soil and Water District Director, Chesterfield, and for helping with the Legislative Outreach Committee for James River Soil and Water Conservation District! Skye is a Senior with a major in International Agriculture Science at Virginia State University. Skye is a graduate of Chesterfield Public Schools. I appreciated Skye's willingness to volunteer at our booth at the Fair, talking to community members. Skye helped conduct research for our project calling Farmers about Agriculture CostShare. Skye was positive and good at open communication. Skye said, “I first and foremost would like to thank Laura Lee Thompson for giving me the opportunity to intern under her. It was a great first internship experience. I enjoyed getting to meet, know, and work with Laura and the other interns. The projects I liked working on the most were the VSU project reaching farmers and making calls, the Facebook training videos, the interning while at the fair, and creating a press list. Again, thank everyone who made my first internship experience successful." Skye will have a good career ahead of him and anyone would be benefited by having him on their team. Best wishes in your endeavors Skye!

Last Saturday, April 17th the first virtual Virginia Dominion Energy Envirothon for Areas 3 and 6 was held. This year has been a learning experience. Trying to take a natural resource competition, and adjust to online testing was not simple, but the students showed us exactly why they love the Virginia Dominion Energy Envirothon. We are so proud of the two Chesterfield schools that competed, Clover Hill and [email protected]. This year teamwork has been more important than ever and to see the students working together to learn about our environment is inspiring. So on this Earth Day, we would like to shout out to our future generations of foresters, conservationists, policymakers, and anyone else that believes we can all come together to help conserve our natural resources. #vadominionenergyenvirothon #EarthDay2021
