We are happy to announce that beginning on October 5, 2020, our library branches will reopen to the public in a hybrid model of service!

Thank you, Mercer County Library System patrons for your patience and support during this extraordinary time. We have missed you very much and are eager to welcome you back into our branches!

In June the Governor has permitted libraries the ability to reopen at 25 patrons or 25% capacity, whichever is less, beginning any time after July 2nd. We have developed a plan to provide library services in the safest way we can, with a combination of limited open public hours and contactless curbside pick-up!

For details, such as hours of operation, what to expect, occupancy limits, public computer use, and more, visit our website:

(Please Note: Our Hollowbrook Branch, located in the Hollowbrook Community Center, will not be open to the public at this time, but will be offering contactless curbside pick-up.)

'Tis the Season...for PUMPKINS! Take part in our first ever Virtual Pumpkin Decorating Contest!

This year, we invite you to decorate a pumpkin using a book theme. Then submit a photo of your pumpkin to [email protected]. Make sure to include your name, age, book theme, and contact information - so that we may get in touch with you if you win!

Submissions will be accepted through Wednesday, October 21st. Then the pumpkins will be 'displayed' on our page from October 22nd through the 29th, at which time people may vote for their favorites. Voting will be tallied by the number of likes each pumpkin receives (so tell your friends to follow us and vote)! Winners will be announced at noon on Halloween.

Two winners will be chosen (one adult and one child) and will receive $10 Target gift cards.

Have fun. We can't wait to see what you create!

Indicate in the body if you wish to have black and white or color prints and the number of copies you need. Also include your name and a phone number so that we may contact you to schedule a curbside pick-up time.

"Marie 'Missy' Mattingly Meloney was born in 1878, in an America where women couldn't vote. Yet she recognized the power that women held as consumers and family decision-makers, and persuaded male publishers and politicians to take them seriously. Over the course of her life as a journalist, magazine editor-in-chief, and political advisor, Missy created the idea of the female demographic. After the passage of the 19th Amendment she encouraged candidates to engage with and appeal to women directly. In this role, she advised Presidents from Hoover and Coolidge to FDR. By the time she died in 1943, women were a recognized political force to be reckoned with. In this groundbreaking biography, historian Julie Des Jardins restores Missy to her rightful place in American history." (Provided by publisher)

We have once again been rated as one of America’s 5-Star Libraries by Library Journal! What an honor. 🥰

Library Journal, a monthly publication for library professionals, recently released its 2019 rating of the nation’s public libraries and acknowledged the Mercer County Library System among the nation's best libraries for eleven out of twelve years!

This year 6,333 libraries were rated using five types of per capita use generated by public libraries. Only 261 libraries received stars. The criteria used: population, circulation, e-material circulation, visits, program attendance, public internet computer users, and Wi-Fi sessions. MCLS was one of four libraries in New Jersey to receive a 5-Star rating, and the only public library in New Jersey to receive a five-star designation within its budget category, where it placed 9th out of 33 libraries nationwide.

THANK YOU to all of our wonderful library staff and patrons who help make our library system so great!!
