Today Chief Pflug underwent certification training to become an instructor on a new device acquired by the Gibson County Emergency Management Agency (EMA). The device, sourced from Project Lifesaver, is designed to facilitate the swift location of individuals prone to wandering due to conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia, autism, and traumatic brain injuries. This technology employs a wrist-worn transmitter, enabling emergency responders to quickly locate at-risk individuals. A forthcoming campaign aims to identify eligible individuals who could benefit from this technology. Participating agencies in today's training included Princeton Fire Department, Gibson County Ambulance Service, Gibson County Sheriff's Department, Gibson Southern School Resource Officer, and Owensville Montgomery Township Fire Protection District.

This afternoon Chief Pflug went to St. Joseph elementary school and picked up Reese Dunn. Reese was the honorary Fire Chief for the day. Reese’s parents purchased this experience for him at the annual St Joseph school auction. His first order of duty was lunch at McDonalds. After lunch we headed to the station so he could check out his apparatus. Next we went to the office where he got busy doing some work on the computer followed by a little time in the poolroom playing pool and checking out some toys. He was most excited about his ride around town in the ladder truck. I think he worked so hard that he wore himself out as he fell asleep on his way back to school.

We were privileged to participate in College and Careers Day at PCHS today, engaging with students to discuss their post-graduation prospects. Our team connected with the students, offering insights into their future career paths, and some even had the opportunity to try our gear. We appreciate the invitation and look forward to future collaborations.

Please be reminded as the weather comes to our area, response times will increase as conditions worsen. Please be patient with all responders that are working during these conditions: fire, police, EMS, dispatchers, city street workers, highway and state road crews, utility workers, tow truck drivers, the postal service, and those that have to leave the comfort of their home to provide services or conveniences.
Stay home unless you absolutely must get out and only call 911 for true emergencies.

Hope that everyone stays safe and warm this weekend and through the upcoming week!
