FREE Return to Vietnam Trip for 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Soldiers from Operation Apache Snow Timeframe. I am a Currahee and a member of the 506th Association. I am seeking the association's help in spreading the word about a free return trip to Vietnam for 506th veterans of the Vietnam War. I represent the Return to Vietnam Program (www.returntovietnam.org), which sponsors fully funded trips for veterans of the Vietnam War to their former battlefields. These trips are designed to honor the enduring legacy of Vietnam War veterans by taking them on guided tours to former battlefields in Vietnam for healing, remembrance, and reconciliation.
For over twenty years, the Greatest Generations Foundation has sponsored WWII veterans on similar return trips to Normandy, France. But with their numbers dwindling, the Foundation has turned its attention to the Vietnam War and its veterans under the Return to Vietnam Program banner.
Specifically, the offer is this: An all-expense-paid, guided trip to Vietnam from 1 - 12 February 2026 for ten veterans who served with the 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division at any time during Operation Apache Snow (10 May 1969 - 7 June 1969).
* The Foundation will cover all international and in-country transportation, lodging, meals, and other expenses. It will have dedicated in-country staff who will be with the veterans at all times.
* No family, caregivers, or friends allowed.
* Veterans must have a valid passport and a physician's statement that they are fit for international travel.
* Veterans must be able to move about without assistance and walk to former battlefield sites. Veterans can expect to visit sites in the A Shau Valley for this trip.
As a volunteer with the Program, I am responsible for finding qualified veterans. This will be a first-come, first-served list. Any 506th veterans of the 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, during Operation Apache Snow who would like to participate should email me ([email protected]) with their name, unit, and dates with the 3rd Brigade during the Vietnam War.
