It's March 1! That means the Ozark Highlands Auto Tour is open, all refuge waters are open to fishing and boating (check for motor regulations), wild edible collecting season is open (ask us for a map), and the Visitor Center is also open on Saturdays.

In observance of the Washington’s Birthday holiday, the Visitor Center will be closed today, February 18. Refuge roads remain open during daylight hours.

Because of impending weather conditions, the Visitor Center will close at 1:00 pm today, Friday, February 15. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The refuge is now open to normal public use.

A total of 127 invasive feral hogs were taken in 5.5-6 hours of flight time.

We are excited to be back and resuming normal operations. The visitor center is open Monday-Friday 8:30 am-4:00 pm.

The Mingo National Wildlife Refuge visitor center and offices will be closed Wednesday, December 5 for the National Day of Mourning honoring President George H.W. Bush. The refuge will remain open during daylight hours.

Reminder - The managed muzzleloader hunt is taking place this weekend on the refuge. The western side of the refuge is closed, including Bluff Road west of the Boardwalk. Red Mill Drive and the Boardwalk are open.

This weekend also is the start of our winter hours. The Visitor Center is open Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm, and the Ozark Highlands Auto Tour is closed through February.

The Mingo Visitor Center will close at 2:00 pm Wednesday for Thanksgiving and will reopen Friday morning at 8:30 am.

Winter hours will also start after this weekend. December-February, the Visitor Center will be open Monday-Friday 8:30 am-4:00 pm, and the Ozark Highland Auto Tour will be closed.

The remainder of the refuge is always open during daylight hours.

Good news- Mingo maintenance staff and Mingo Job Corps students have completed the rebuilding of the east side of the swamp boardwalk. The entire loop is now open.

A portion of Bluff Road is closed Tuesday and Wednesday this week for our Recovering Soldier managed hunt. The road is closed between Pierman Pond (Ditch 4/11) and the Job Corps ball fields/Spillway Road. The Ozark Highlands Auto Tour is accessible from the Job Corps entrance, and the Boardwalk, Red Mill Drive, and Visitor Center are all open.

We had our Mingo Youth Hunt this past weekend. The weather was a little rough but the kids hung in and we all had a great time.

Reminder. The western half of the Refuge is closed for our youth hunt. The east side is still open.

Waterfowl count for 10/29/18. Ducks 6,145, Geese 43, Eagles 12. The fall colors are very nice and the birds are starting to head our way.

The Boardwalk is accessible again from the parking lot. The east section remains under construction.

The Boardwalk parking lot and access to the Boardwalk from the parking lot are currently closed for boardwalk construction. Part of the Boardwalk can still be accessed from the Bluff Road trail head. We will update when it reopens.

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 22 is National Public Lands Day. Mingo's entrance fee will be waived for the day.

The Ozark Highlands Auto Tour is currently blocked by a downed tree. We will update when it has been cleared.
