Historic Quanah, Texas

Historic Quanah, Texas Quanah (ˈkwɑːnə) is a city in and the county seat of Hardeman County, Texas, United States. The city is named for Quanah Parker, the last Comanche chief.

On one of his many visits, Chief Quanah Parker pronounced his blessing on Quanah:

“May the Great Spirit smile on you little town, may the rain fall in season, and the warmth of the sunshine after the rain, may the earth yield bountifully. May peace and contentment be with your children forever.”

The City of Quanah offices will be closed on Friday, April 3rd, 2026, in observance of the Good Friday holiday. We will return to normal business hours on Monday, April 6, 2026.
