We had some firemen give up their Saturday morning to go participate in some live fire training and also search and rescue training. It’s great to be associated with a department that has enough men wanting to go train that we have to go in groups to make sure there are men in town in case something is to happen! We appreciate Childress Fire for inviting us and Wellington to their facility so we can all train together.

Per Canyon Firefighters Association

It is with great sadness that the Canyon Firefighters Association announces the passing of volunteer firefighter Joseph Martinez.

Joe was a loving husband, devoted father, and faithful friend. He served his community through the Canyon Fire Department since January 2019 and was known around the station for his sense of humor and selfless spirit.

Joe faced his battle with cancer with courage, determination, and grace. His strength and resilience throughout his journey were an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Even in the face of his illness, he continued to demonstrate the same selfless spirit, unwavering character, and charming wit that defined both his life and his service.

Joe will be deeply missed by his family and his fellow firefighters. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn this tremendous loss.
