The Marine Corps Mustang Association is looking for a few good Mustangs!

In 1985, The Marine Corps Mustang Association was founded with the purpose of preserving and sustaining the history and legacy of past, present, and future Marine Mustangs. A Marine Corps Mustang is someone who earned their Eagle, Globe, and Anchor as an Enlisted Marine and subsequently rose to the officer ranks as commissioned or warrant officer in any branch of the United States Armed Forces.

The Marine Corps Mustang Association is present on social media and has physical chapters in California, Arizona, and Florida, with the opportunity to create chapters and platoons in your area.

As Marines and as Mustangs, our strength is in our numbers, and the Marine Corps Mustang Association NEEDS YOU! We need Mustangs to serve in leadership roles as Officers, Directors, and committee positions. We need Mustangs to serve in Chapters in your local area. We need the Mustangs of today to work to inspire the Mustangs of tomorrow!

What can you do? First, check out our website at www.MarineCorpsMustang.org. Second, if you aren’t a member, JOIN NOW! Third, if you see an open leadership position that interests you, submit your name for consideration! The only talent required is the skills you used to earn the title “Mustang."

The Association cannot survive without growth in membership and the activity of its members. We need you. We need help – and we need it NOW!

Visit www.MarineCorpsMustang.org to learn more today, and click the Contact Us button to reach us via email or phone with any questions you may have. Also, be sure to connect with us on Facebook, Linkedin, and Together We Served. How you reach out to us doesn’t matter – that you reach out does.

We look forward to hearing from you and you joining the team.

Had a very successful 37th Marine Corps Mustang Muster and member's meeting in Arlington VA. Everyone enjoyed spending time with old Marine buddies and their wives, and we enjoyed several tours, including a night at the Marine Barracks for the Sunset Parade and Silent Drill Team. Always impressive. Thank you to all that helped make this a successful event and Semper Fidelis! Hope to see you all next year in San Diego.

***URGENT NOTICE***
ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING

A MESSAGE FROM THE SECRETARY, MARINE CORPS MUSTANG ASSOCIATION
July 20, 2022

Fellow Mustangs,
I am writing you this letter as the Association is in desperate, maybe I should say, dire need of its members to not just pay dues every few years, but to actually step-up, be more active and participate in the Association. The Association is on the brink of folding its tent and riding off into the sunset after 37 great years. As you are all aware, the Association President position will be open this year as Joe Featherston is stepping down after many many years of service (37 to be exact) to you and the Association. Not one member came forward and threw their name into the hat for the position. Under normal circumstances, when this happens Section 7-01. (3) of the Bylaws would apply and states “(I)f the office of any Officer becomes vacant the Board of Directors shall fill the office by a majority vote of the remaining members.” In this instance, the Vice President would be voted in as President. However, on 12 July 2022 our current Vice President submitted his resignation.

What does this mean? It means at the conclusion of this year’s Muster Membership meeting, being held on the 6th of August, the positions of both President and Vice President will be empty! The Marine Corps Mustang Association cannot function and be run by the two remaining Officers, the Association Secretary and Treasurer.

It is ABSOLUTELY CRUCIAL that you attend the Muster Membership meeting on the 6th of August 1400-1600 EST so that the future of the Marine Corps Mustang Association can be discussed, and a decision made as to how we go forward, or terminate and shut down after 37 years. There are currently 18 Association Members attending the Muster in person. Please don’t take that comment as any type of criticism. I get it. With gasoline costs, airline costs, hotel costs, etc., it’s extremely difficult for many of you to attend. However, I implore you to make every attempt possible to attend the Muster Membership meeting via Zoom. We need you, your ideas, your opinions and your comments at this critical Membership meeting. I have provided the link to the Zoom call below. You can use Zoom on your cell phone from wherever you may be at the meeting time, or on a tablet, laptop, desktop with an internet connection; just about anything that will allow you to download and install the app. NOTE: The app is not required for your computer, but is highly recommended for your mobile devices. The meeting will start around 1400 EST. Please put this date on your calendar NOW and make plans to attend! The future of our Mustang Association is at stake. We hope you will help us keep the Marine Corp Mustang Association alive and participate in the conversation to determine our future on 6 August 2022.

Call our Business Manager Laura O'Hara at ‭(703) 349-0893‬ or email her at [email protected] and ask for the Zoom link to attend this critical meeting.

Semper Fidelis!

24 June 1974, 47 years ago today my best buddy Dave Searles (deceased and miss him) and I reported to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego for duty and stepped on the famous yellow footprints. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Anyone else out there remember that day?

06/03/2021

When I served in the Marine Corps, my life was in the hands of black, brown, red, yellow, and white-toned people. We were friends, we were combatants, we were Marines, and we had each others six when the hammer slammed the anvil. We trained, we sweated and we bled together. We came together from all parts of the country; we came together from all religions. We were a society unto ourselves.

We worked as a team, a well-oiled machine. We fought for our brothers through thick and thin. We protected each other, that was what we did. The only color we saw was Marine Corps Green.....
Would two friends be willing to copy and repost this simple reminder?

A great way to start your Sunday morning... Hoo-Rah!
Here's an interesting page:
Happy birthday, Marines!

Resolution of the Continental Congress, 10 November 1775
Fellow Mustang Marines,

On August 12, 2018, I proudly assumed the duties as President of the Marine Corps Mustang Association (MCMA). We are a unique organization whose primary purpose is to advocate and provide career-enhancing support for Marine Officers who have enlisted Marine Corps experience. Made up of Mustang Officers with a broad spectrum of successful military and civilian experience, we pursue our mission through mentoring, networking, and facilitating relationships that assist Mustangs in their military career and civilian transition.

Founded on 10 November 1985 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Captain Robert E. Richter, USMC (Ret), the MCMA is a full member of and participant in the National Marine Corps Council of Agencies. Membership to the MCMA is open to any active duty, reserve, retired and honorably discharged Officers who, after having served on active duty in the enlisted ranks of the Marine Corps or Marine Corps Reserve, rose to the officer ranks and served as a commissioned or warrant officer in the United States Marine Corps or another branch of the United States Armed Forces. Honorary members of the MCMA include Gen Alfred M. Gray, 29th Commandant of the Marine Corps, and Gen James Mattis, current Secretary of Defense.

Each year, the MCMA holds its annual Muster which includes its general business meeting for members to attend where new officers and directors are sworn in, a board of directors meeting, and dinner. The Muster is open to all active MCMA members, spouses, their guests and widows/widowers of members. Our next Muster will be in Branson, Missouri, from Sep 17, 2019 – Sep 22, 2019, and will be a joint Muster/Reunion along with the 2d and 3d Marine Division Associations.

The MCMA has many challenges before it. As we all know, recruiting and retaining members is the lifeblood of any membership organization. I plan to implement changes that will inspire Marine Mustangs of all eras to see the value in joining the MCMA as well as encourage those of my peer group and generation to get involved. What is even more critical to our continued growth is the establishment of State Chapters. Currently, we only have three chapters – the Florida Mustang Association, the Desert Mustangs of Arizona, and the Camp Pendleton Mustangs. My goal for my first year as President is to lead by example by establishing a Lonestar Mustangs of Texas Chapter in hopes that others will follow. Other goals include, but are not limited to, establishing a scholarship fund for the surviving dependant of a fallen Mustang, sponsoring an annual golf tournament to raise funds for a designated veteran charity, coordinating an attendance of MCMA members at an 8th & I Evening Parade each summer, using the MCMA as a foundation to initiate yearly MOS reunions, and reactivating the Marine Corps Mustang Spirit Award presented to a Marine 2nd Lieutenant or Warrant Officer from the Graduating Class at the Basic School, Quantico.

To achieve these and our other goals, the MCMA needs new members like you with fresh ideas and the motivation to keep the Association alive and growing. To become a member of the MCMA or If you’ve been a past member and have not renewed your membership because you felt that the MCMA was of no benefit to you, I encourage you to visit our website at www.MarineCorpsMustang.org to join or renew your membership and help us define who we are and what we want to mold our Association to represent. For those of you interested in having a greater role than just being a member, please consider stepping up for a leadership position, such as one of our Director vacancies, to help us build the MCMA into the illustrious membership organization it has the potential to be.
