Whether you are interested in recreational shooting, competition, hunting, gun collecting, historical reenactment, home safety, or personal protection -- it is essential that you learn and practice the principles of safe firearm handling and shooting which help you develop the attitude, knowledge, and skills necessary for the safe and legal use of firearms. Our Principal Trainer, Dr. Tom Harig, is
a nationally known criminologist with 35+ years of professional experience. He has had government service in New York State's primary criminal justice agencies; he has served as a national trainer in numerous events for the US Department of Justice; and he has been a trainer and consultant to numerous State and local criminal justice agencies across the country. He is a Certified Instructor by the National Rifle Association, and he is a Certified Concealed Firearms Instructor by the State of Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification. Our basic NRA course, Firearm Safety in the Home, covers the basic elements of gun safety - attitude, knowledge, and skill; the fundamental rules of safe gun handling; the identification and unloading of different types of firearms; types of ammunition; and the cleaning, care, and storage of firearms. The course is very appropriate for license applicants, new gun owners, spouses of gun owners, and gun owners/families with children in the home. Our NRA course, Basics of Pistol Shooting, provides fundamentals training for the new pistol shooter, as well as skills development for the experienced pistol owner. We also offer the extremely popular Utah & Florida Concealed Firearm Permit Class. With these permits you can legally carry concealed firearms in 35+ reciprocity states, as governed by each state's local laws and regulations. A New York State pistol license is not required. (However, the Utah and Florida permits are not valid for carry in New York State). Small group and/or individual instruction can be arranged by appointment.
