Do you know what to do if a power line falls on your vehicle while you’re inside?

Stay inside your vehicle & call 9-1-1 for help. Do NOT leave the vehicle until you are instructed by emergency personnel. Treat all lines as if they are live & avoid touching them.

Keep an eye to the sky today, friends. Severe weather has the potential to impact much of North Carolina today. Remember, downed power lines can energize the ground up to 30 ft. away from the source. #StaySafe #TurnAroundDontDrown

Thursday #ncwx update:
• Unsettled weather has commenced across the state as a strong storm system moves across the region.
• An extended period of heavy rainfall will create favorable conditions for flooding through tonight. Flood/flash flood watches and warnings remain in effect across western and central NC.
• A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is expected to push across the state beginning this afternoon. Some areas south of US 64 are under an Enhanced Storm Threat. Severe storms will conclude across coastal areas after midnight into early Friday morning.
• Wind Advisories have been issued for east Carteret County, Northern Outer Banks, Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island from 10PM this evening to 5PM Friday.

I saw the notice about the planned outage this evening in Huntersville. Where exactly will that be? The notice just says "Gilead Road area." That road stretches a long way. How far from Gilead Road will people be without power?
Does Electricities plan on having adequate staff around the clock to provide real time updates and estimates of power restoration to your customers during and after the storm? Your track record in Huntersville has been consistently terrible for the 10 years I’ve lived here and the capacity to accept feedback has been aloof and unapologetic. Please ensure people are informed to the best of your abilities and not guessing. Please post information online in multiple channels as your phone lines are typically jammed for at least 45 minutes whenever the power goes out on a sunny day. Stay safe and thank you for your efforts to keep everyone safe and connected.
Power is out in huntersville Nc!!
You guys really blew it tonight with the Huntersville power outage from 11:46pm-12:58am. No FB update. No Twitter update. No email confirmation or update when we reported the outage. We're going off the grid. LOLOL
A power outage at 11:45 pm after it went out earlier for a few seconds. What gives this time?
Power just went out north on gilead rd....
This seems odd... should this be happening? Our electric bill has been really high... is this normal?
