National Park Service

This year Healthy Parks Healthy People US - National Park Service is celebrating the healing power of the outdoors, by safely enjoying nature in our homes, backyards, neighborhoods, and nearby parks and trails. We encourage everyone to enjoy nature while practicing social distancing in line with current CDC guidelines.

Here are a few simple ideas:

🌱 Get in touch with nature's rhythms

🌱 Look for signs of spring all around you

🌱 Get outside in the neighborhood

Take 2, with photos: Kenny Story did a great job with Lenoir Optimist Park in Caldwell County. This PARTF project is in the Western Region and had some floodplain challenges on the site - all that were worked through to bring this project to completion. We are looking forward to seeing this open soon for Little League and adult play.

For LWCF Applicants | NC State Parks

Exciting to see the funding return to the Land Water Conservation Fund. An estimated $4.5M will be available this cycle for North Carolina. (More details on the LWCF program can be found online at https://www.ncparks.gov/more-about-us/grants/lwcf-grants/application)

"Fully funding LWCF is also a low-cost economic stimulus that will reach all corners of the country, yielding direct and indirect benefits. It supports outdoor recreation that generated more than $887 billion in annual consumer spending and supported 7.6 million jobs in recent years, according to the Outdoor Industry Association." Outdoor Recreation Industry and Coronavirus – Outdoor Recreation Roundtable

"We all know the healing power of nature and the outdoors – from John Muir 150 years ago to public health experts today during this unprecedented time. And we all know that engaging in our favorite recreation activity – boating, RVing, climbing, motorcycling, camping, fishing, biking or whatever – does wonders for our health and well-being. However, we have to be smart about getting outside in this public health emergency." See more by visiting: https://recreationroundtable.org/coronavirus/

The outdoor industry takes the health and well-being of our partners, employees and customers very seriously. This is why during the coronavirus pandemic we are focused on helping Americans get through this time as safely and sanely as possible.
