🚨 TRAINING SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Huge congrats to Lt. Danielle Larsen and FF/Rescue Tech Anthony Graziano for completing the Gary Sinise Foundation’s Heavy Vehicle Rescue School in Spartanburg, SC this past weekend with ! 🚛💪

Over 30 intensive hours, Danielle and Anthony trained in one of the most demanding disciplines in technical rescue — incidents involving tractor-trailers, buses, and other heavy vehicles where excessive weight, unique construction, shifting cargo, and complex physics turn every call into a high-stakes problem to solve.

This kind of advanced training doesn’t just sharpen individual skills — it elevates the level of service our entire squad delivers to Ramsey and our mutual aid partners. When seconds count on the highway or at a serious crash scene, preparation like this saves lives.

Thank you to the for their incredible commitment to first responder training, and to Danielle and Anthony for representing Ramsey Rescue with excellence. 🇺🇸

TRAFFIC ADVISORY🚨

Tomorrow, 5/9, the RPEF 5K Run will cause traffic delays on the west side of town. Please be advised that secondary roads begin closing after 8:00 AM, they will remain closed until it is safe to reopen them.

Some main roadways will remain open; however, motorists are urged to use caution when driving near runners and event personnel. Additionally, please do not drive around barricades or cones, as they are in place to provide a safety buffer for everyone involved. Thank you for understanding.

Today, we had the privilege of presenting an award of achievement and the opportunity to celebrate one of our own, Frankie Muia, as she was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout — the highest achievement in Scouting.

Frankie’s Eagle Scout project is a testament to her character and dedication to community service. She designed and built a beautiful wooden structure and Fallen Comrade Table at Veterans Park, honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice — and she funded it herself by selling homemade goods. 🪵🎖️

Beyond this remarkable project, Frankie has earned an impressive collection of merit badges and served in numerous leadership roles — including as a member of the Ramsey High School Varsity Wrestling Team and as a Firefighter & Rescue Technician with Ramsey Rescue Squad.

Frankie embodies everything we admire in a young leader: grit, service, compassion, and heart.

Ramsey Rescue thanks Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and Bergen County, NJ for the recent support to the squad providing us with necessary life saving training and ice rescue equipment to strengthen our operational cache and bench of certified Ice Rescue Technicians 🫡

As a volunteer firefighter of nearly 50 years, I understand firsthand the importance of equipping our first responders with the tools they need to respond quickly and safely in emergencies.

With an increase in ice rescue incidents this past winter, we have taken steps to strengthen our emergency response network. Yesterday, I visited the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center in Mahwah to hand out Ice Rescue Equipment Kits to 10 local fire and rescue departments. Additionally, the County's most recent Ice Rescue course trained 33 students in the National Fire Protection Standard for Ice Rescue Technicians.

These investments in both equipment and training continue to strengthen our first responders and their capabilities, and is yet another reason why Bergen County remains one of the safest counties in the nation.

Thank you to our Bergen County Office of Emergency Management for their leadership, and to all our first responders for their service to our communities.

❄️🧊⚠️ Here is the updated forecast for the incoming winter storm, which moves into our area late tonight. Slight tweaks to the snow and ice forecast, but the theme and message remains the same: Significant impacts and major disruptions are expected for our area!

In addition to the snow, there is an increasing threat for impactful ice accumulations, on top of the heavy snow that falls tonight and tomorrow morning. Ice/sleet on top of snow will result in VERY hazardous travel conditions.

In terms of timing, no changes. Snow begins after midnight tonight, with the heaviest snow occurring daytime Sunday into Sunday evening (1-2” per hour rates likely). The storm winds down into Monday morning, with very cold conditions through the week.
