On this day, we recognize the anniversary of the first AMBER Alert, a program created to help safely recover abducted children and quickly share critical information with the public.

Every AMBER Alert is a reminder that time matters. By staying alert and reporting credible sightings, the public plays an important role in bringing children home safely.

If you receive an AMBER Alert on your phone, take a moment to read it, stay aware of your surroundings, and report any relevant information to law enforcement. Together, we can help protect California's children.

Pretty sure this isn’t what Subaru meant when they made their vehicles AWD. What are your thoughts?

The driver of the black Subaru, although uninjured, was involved in an earlier hit and run crash involving a totally separate parked car. The officers on scene were getting ready to be on their way to the residence to check on this driver and get his side of the story. That’s precisely when this guy drove right past the first crash scene. The victim in that crash pointed out it was the same car, same driver, that hit theirs and when officers went to locate the suspect vehicle, this is how they found it.

The driver was ultimately arrested on the suspicion of being impaired from huffing inhalants and for misdemeanor hit and run.

It’s never a good idea to drive under the influence of anything!

Went out for a nice, relaxing Sunday ride.

The bike was happy.
The weather was perfect.
My judgment took the day off.

Then CHP materialized out of nowhere.

CHP: “Hey man, I stopped you for your speed. Do you know how fast you were going?”

Me: “Fast enough to outrun my responsibilities?”

CHP: “115.”

Turns out the only thing I was racing was my insurance premium and now the points on my license!

Guess my wallet’s doing 0–60 in reverse now. 💸🏍️

As you celebrate this Independence Day weekend, remember that the California Highway Patrol East Sacramento Area will have additional officers on patrol throughout the Holiday Enforcement Period.

This weekend's enforcement effort is focused on speed and impaired driving - two of the leading causes of serious injury and fatality crashes.

Before you head out:
> Remember to slow down and obey the
posted speed limits.
> Designate a sober driver before your
celebration begins.

Most importantly, have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day. We look forward to everyone arriving at their destination safely!

Talk about being lucky to be alive!

Thankfully, the 60-year-old male driver and sole occupant of this Honda Accord was wearing his seatbelt.

While working an overtime enforcement detail, East Sacramento CHP Officer Monroe and Sergeant Ashby heard a dispatch from the Sacramento Communications Center regarding a rollover traffic collision involving a vehicle on its side and blocking lanes on Florin Road west of Eagles Nest Road. Although assigned to a neighboring area, they responded immediately and were the first units on scene, followed closely by paramedics and firefighters from Sacramento Metro Fire.

The outcome of this two-vehicle rollover crash could have been much worse. The driver of the Sacramento County Waste Disposal truck was not injured. The Honda driver sustained moderate injuries, including a large laceration to his forehead and multiple cuts and abrasions to his face, neck, arms, and hands.

This incident is a powerful reminder of how CHP officers support one another across area boundaries and work alongside our partner agencies to provide the highest level of service. Most importantly, it demonstrates how wearing your seatbelt properly can make the difference between life and death.
