Every strong neighborhood I know starts the same way: a family decides to stay.

They buy the house. They fix the fence. They open the shop and coach the team. My job as a legislator is to make staying possible: housing policy that lets young families afford a first home in downtown Rapid City and North Rapid, infrastructure that keeps up with growth, and a small-business climate that rewards the couple risking their savings on a storefront. I measure economic development one way. Can a working family put down roots here and still breathe at the end of the month? Get that answer to yes and the rest takes care of itself.

Ellsworth Air Force Base sits in the next district over. Its future still belongs to all of Rapid City.

The B-21 Raider mission is one of the biggest things happening in western South Dakota, and the growth around the base touches every corner of this city: jobs, housing, traffic, small businesses. That is why I back the Ellsworth expansion as a regional priority, and why SB 130, the 2026 appropriation for Ellsworth roadway infrastructure, matters even to a downtown district. When the region wins, the heart of Rapid City has to be ready to catch that growth instead of getting run over by it. Planning beats reacting, every single time.
