Every day, healthcare teams, law enforcement, fire, EMS, and city leadership step into unpredictable situations with the same shared purpose: to protect, serve, and care for our community.
On Day, we are standing together to raise awareness about violence in healthcare settings and to support a safer environment for caregivers, patients, families, and visitors.
We’re proud to join our community partners in taking a visible stand against violence. Monument Health

FYI from the Parks Department

Due to current water restrictions, we will not be holding our Hydrant Parties this year 😞.

But don’t worry—we’ve got something fun planned! Join us at Jimmy Hilton Pool on June 17th or Parkview Pool on July 8th from 1:00–3:00 PM and enjoy admission for just $2 during those times. We hope to see you there!

Rattlesnake activity has been higher than usual this year. In one week alone, our crews responded to three bite related incidents. Do you know what to do if you come across a rattlesnake?

Personnel from the Rapid City Fire Department, Rapid City Police Department, Pennington County Sheriff’s Office, and Pennington County 911 Dispatch Center are participating in active shooter training to strengthen the coordination and partnerships that are essential during emergency incidents.

Effective emergency response starts long before units arrive on scene. Dispatchers, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and other public safety professionals must be able to communicate, share information, and work together seamlessly when seconds matter.

The public often sees the response to an emergency, but that response is built on countless hours of preparation and training behind the scenes. By training together today, we’re ensuring a more coordinated and effective response for our community tomorrow. Rapid City Police Department Pennington County Sheriff's Office Pennington County 911

Not every call to the Fire Chief is an emergency. Sometimes it’s just crews sharing the day’s most “urgent” updates.
We work hard, train hard, and occasionally have a little fun along the way. Thank you to Chief Culberson for being such a good (unknowingly)sport.
