Tim Parker has served the residents of Hillsdale County as a certified Law Enforcement officer since 1982. officer licensed by the State of Michigan to perform the duties of a Peace Officer. Tim has been married to his wife Kris for 24 years; they have two daughters Abigail and Allison. Tim started his 34+ year Law Enforcement career as a part time patrol officer for the Village of Jonesville in 1
982, a short time later (Jan, 1983) Tim was hired as a full time Patrol Officer where he worked for two years. In 1985 Tim was hired by the Hillsdale County Sheriff Department as the Animal Control Officer and approximately 2 weeks later assigned to Road Patrol Deputy. Through the years Tim has served in numerous different positions at the Hillsdale County Sheriff Department those are and are not limited to, Corrections Officer, Dispatcher, Animal Control Officer, Marine Patrol Officer, Road Patrol Deputy, Firearms Instructor, assigned to work with Emergency Management as Solution Area Planner and as a current command staff member. Tim was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1993 and was promoted to his current rank of Lieutenant of Operations in 2004. As Lieutenant of Operations, on top of being a direct line supervisor for all road patrol deputies and corrections deputies along with 4 Sergeants Tim is responsible for Dispatch Operations, Court Security, School Security, maintaining training standards for department staff and hazardous materials training. Along with these tasks he is responsible for security access for the Sheriff’s Department, District Court and the Main Court complex. Tim has served as commander of the departments Emergency Response Team and commanding officer of the departments Dive Team. As a certified Diver himself Tim has conducting training exercises with area Fire Personnel, EMS and Law Enforcement Officers in the area of submerged vehicle recovery and rescues. Licensed by M.C.O.L.E.S to teach a Michigan approved Concealed Pistol Safety Course (CCW). He first began instructing Pistol Safety Classes in 2001 when Michigan first changed the CCW program to a Carry Concealed Pistol Program enabling residents more access to permits to carry a concealed pistol. Tim is a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment and believes every citizen should be able to exercise that right. He is also a NRA member and certified Firearms Instructor to teach Basic Pistol Safety and Personal Home Protection Firearms training by the NRA. Tim has been involved with School Security measures shortly after the tragedy at Columbine High School. First working along with Hillsdale County Emergency Management Tim began school security assessments. Conducting table top exercises with school administrators and public officials, creating emergency response plans and finally working with schools to obtain grants for needed equipment. School Security issues are a top Priority currently at the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department and has been with Tim. Tim Parker has the years of Law Enforcement Experience, Leadership Qualities and Organizational Skills needed to be the next Sheriff of Hillsdale County.
