Power doesn't corrupt so much as it reveals, Robert Caro once wrote. Watching the MAGA majority on the Readington Board of Education, I keep coming back to that line.

They move as a bloc. Discussion is minimal, dissent gets steamrolled, and anyone outside their ideology is shut out...and make no mistake, it is an ideology. I've watched David Rizza wave off the minority's requests, curt and dismissive, more than once. I don't envy whoever has to sit on that side of the dais.

If the power ever shifts, I hope no one hands them an olive branch. They haven't earned one. Let them get exactly what they gave everyone else and let them sit with it. Some lessons only take when nobody softens the landing.
