🚨 ELECTION DAY IS TOMORROW — MAY 12, 2026! 🚨

I filed for the office of Treasurer because I believed Webster County deserved leadership grounded in hard work, professionalism, accountability, and responsible financial management.

Properly handling county finances is one of the most important responsibilities of the Treasurer’s office. Taxpayer dollars must be managed carefully, accurately, and transparently — with integrity, attention to detail, and respect for the people who work hard to earn them.

I’m not making big promises — only this:

If elected as your next Treasurer, I will work hard every single day, serve the office professionally, properly manage county finances, and treat every person with respect.

Definition of county treasurer:

A county treasurer is an elected (or sometimes appointed) public official responsible for acting as the chief banker, tax collector, and custodian of funds for a county government. They receive, manage, invest, and disburse public money, often serving as the key financial officer insuring the safety of county funds.

With 29 years of banking experience and 7 years within the Webster County Treasurer's Office, I am confident that I have the skills necessary to effectively and professionally fulfill the duties of the Webster County Treasurer!

I am honored to share that Webster County Attorney **Patrick J. Calkins** has endorsed **Monica Schmitz** for Webster County Treasurer.

It is my pleasure to endorse Monica Schmitz for Webster County Treasurer. I have been the Webster County Attorney since late 2020 and got to know Monica when she was Deputy Treasurer. In all of my interactions with and observations of Monica, I have seen nothing but competence and professionalism. Monica has a wealth of experience from the banking world, which translates almost seamlessly into the Treasurer’s Office - she knows how to deal with numbers, understands the County's various financial obligations, as well as the obligations to the County from the public, and is able to apply her knowledge and communication skills in a way that is clear, concise, and friendly for those coming into the office. To put that another way, while it’s impossible to avoid having some "dissatisfied" customers, those dealing with Monica may have left dissatisfied, but rarely angry, as she can adequately explain the tax laws, policies and procedures to the general public in a non-confrontational and empathetic fashion.

One crucial part of being an elected official is being able to maintain professionalism and faithfully execute the duties of the office while, at the same time, attempting to understand the thoughts and feelings of his or her constituents. The high bar that Monica Schmitz sets not only for herself, but for those in her office, fit the bill completely. Monica Schmitz would be a wonderful Treasurer for Webster County and I am happy to endorse her in this year’s election.
